Got mine from Ultra-rev,4car option and very happy with it. Used a magnet and was surprised that most of it is stainless. Good fit and not to loud. See if that changes after few miles.

Just put mine on from UltraRev on Monday and I must say, 100% satisfied Perfect fitment, no clearance problems, had to bend a tip to center it but no biggie, and the sound... KILLER~ Has a nice low rumble up to about 4500rpm then really screams at WOT. Combined that with an MazdaSpeed cold air intake and my 8 roars... Thanx rxsane!!

i just installed this. it sounds pretty good. i have a turbo xs cat delete and its way too loud inside the car though. i may install the cat for long road trips.

if you decide to delete the cat, expect insane reverberations inside the car. at 6000rpm it gets annoying. but at low rpm it does sound pretty mean.

Update

An update on the ultrarev, after 1600 miles the sound hasn't changed, it still looks brand new no coloration except for the tips which changed color after the first 20 minutes. All and all very happy with it.

After about 5k miles, same here. Subjectively, the sound hasn't changed much if any, and it hasn't developed any droning.
The tips did become straw yellow at first, and when I polished them they would discolor again pretty quickly. Just the rotary heat combined with the single-wall tips.
That hasn't been a problem as much lately, not sure what changed.

Yeah an you could always get quality tips welded on. Back when I had my stock exhaust I had some really nice Magnaflow tips welded on for only $40.00.

Oltmann, do you have a picture of the yellowing of the tips? Did they stop discoloring after a certain time? Thanks for the info in advance.

yes, having no cat will throw a CEL, unless your randomly lucky. in this thread they are talking about cat backs so the stock cat is still there, no CEL. the 2 systems above show the section of the cat back that connects the muffler section to the cat pipe, again no cat is removed, therefore no CEL. one does show a header, and a cat back but no mid-pipe.

Looking into these aswell. Any difference between the exhaust from ultrarev and 4caroption? Both advertise about the same and look similar.

I've got nothing to prove and it serves the same purpose and those $800 exhausts. When you look at the back of the car..... it all looks and functions the same. As far as horse power goes..... we wouldn't be driving RX8's if we wanted a fast powerful beast. We drive 8's for handling and style. Those expensive exhaust systems open up 3-5 HP at best. Not worth $800 IMO!
then according ur logic u should get a Geo Metro, it's about the same anyway.

I have only seen them on Ebay or on 4caroption's website. They are around $300 shipped in both of those locations though. More than the $221 shipped from UltraRev. Maybe they will get more in later. I sure hope so as I wanted to get that system as well...but missed the boat I guess.

the catback shown in post 77 is just that a catback its its from the cat pipe, aka the stock mid pipe, back. the pipe shown is not a mid pipe, it is the part of the cat back that connects the stock mid pipe to the muffler section. so if you put this on your car you would not get a CEL as the stock cat hasnt moved.

well i hate to be the debbie downer but i installed the UltraRev cat back about a month ago and after 1k miles of light daily driving with the occasional mountain road blast the right muffler has broken internally off of the main pipe and now rattles and squeaks at idle. I unfortunately believe this will only get worse with more driving and vibrations... IM not really upset over losing 200 bucks but i really like the way this exhaust sounds and looks. I will more than likely contact UltraRev for a possible return if not then i will more than likely take it to an exhaust shop and see if they cant widdle up some crazy single side exit for me

Well i just hooked mine up from 4caroption, they sent me the wrong one, ordered the blue tipped one from their ebay store. was just chrome. But Im not gonna bother sending it back. Now as for the exhaust itself, I am satisfied with it. The sounds is awesome. The hook up was a bitc-, the pipes were very off-centered once hooked up and had to bend the shiet out of them to connect the mufflers to the mid pipe. And also as experienced with the rest of yall, the tips do touch the plastic a bit, so im thinking of cutting the plastic a bit than letting it melt. hmmm thoughts or suggestions on that? But over all, really satisfied. not bad for 250.
