canzoomers blowing stock ecus?

I talked to my mechanic today, he said that They know when you take off the canzoomer to conceal its exisitence. their computer diagnostic system tells them. Im in ca and the canzoomer is illegal here. he says he had someone blow out a stock ecu because of the canzoomer and it wasnt covered under manufactur warranty. 2,000 bucs. whats up with that?

How do you blow out an ECU. This is total BS. It is a piggyback unit. Once removed, there is no way to tell if the Canzoomer has been used. I think this is the same poster that has been trying to flame CZ in like 3 threads now. Nice second post....

Your mechanic is a dolt.......

I have had one 'in' since November 2003, thru dealer visits, and even left it in (accidentally) during ECU updates, it is NOT visible to their diagnostic computer.

He is right that it is technically illegal in Kalifornia, but so are most things.

By the way, those movies that show when cars hit each other and blow up like an atomic bomb is all hollywood effects. You and your mechanic should be informed of that. There is no way, not even in hollywood, that a computer chip would ever "blow up" unless you put explosives in them.

I was at a rotary meet the other day and this guy had an 8 with Canzoomer on it. There was this strange ticking noise under the hood.

It must have been the Canzoomer getting ready to blow up.... HA

Tell your Tech to STFU and find something better to do besides get off on trying to void someone's warranty. What a dumbshit.

WDS has no way of knowing if there has been a piggyback ECU mod. If somwone had pulled the ECU and soldered in a new processor then yeah it might have been detected.
