I'll be in the area next week so I'm going to drop it off at Borla. They want the old one back, they were going to pay for shipping.

The thing I like about the old version of the Borla is that you can't see the muffler from the rear of the car like with the factory piece and it lends itself to a cleaner rear view. It seems like the Borla upgrade runs the risk of placing the muffler back in view like the stock piece.

It looks like I'm stuck with my old one rattling intermittenly. I talked with some Borla customer service guy and he's not aware of any new design. He told me to tighten all the bolts "evenly" so it would end up flat and not hit the shield, plus banging on the heatshield to get it out of the way, and some other round-around.
Unless you live close to them and stop by, I don't see how they'll fess up to their mistake.

I also called up today, the guy told me to take the exhaust off and reinstall it. He then said if it still rattles, I should use a hammer and bang the headshield until it's off the exhaust.

I'm in the process of sending them an email showing the "new design" versus the old one.
Maybe that'll help them remember.

I got a phone call from Borla today after emailing them about my muffler rattling against the heat shield. They are sending me a new muffler canister to replace my old one. My old one rattles like crazy against the heat shield. They were quite eager to help. Top notch customer service there The new muffler canister they are sending is supposed to eliminate the rattling on the heat shield. I'm very pleased.

I used their customer service contact form off their webiste. I was called within 3 days of sending in that letter. They had no trouble at all with replacing the muffler canister with a redesigned one. The rest of the piping is the same, it's just a redesigned muffler canister according to the tech I spoke with. It's a warrenty issue, so all you I have to do is pay for the shipping of the old canister back to them.

When I first installed my Borla and my Bonez mid-pipe I had a major knocking issue with the pipe hitting the floor/PPF on some roads. I couldn't figure out where, exactly, it was contacting the car but then I did some other work that required me to(once again) remove the exhaust system. Somehow the knock went away the next time I re-installed the exhaust. Like most of you I also had the heat shield rattle issue. That also has gone away. I guess what I am suggesting is that those with rattling problems entertain the idea of reorienting the pipes and clamps on the exhaust system.

I finally received a reply from the warranty dept and they're sending me a complete new exhaust. They said it's the same part number but with a design change.
It should arrive next week. I had to give them my credit card # so they would be certain I'd send back my old one. The only fee is shipping it back to them.

Thanks cgrx for posting info on the design change.
Thanks philodox on sharing how you were able to exchange yours.
I almost gave up since the customer service reps and sales reps didn't know anything about the new design.

Happy to have been of assistance. Borla did the same to me, took my CC# in case I didn't send the old one back.

Yes, you will definitely need a receipt. I bought mine online and emailed borla my order invoice. They called the online supplier to verify my purchase.

I didn't have to show a receipt. Though they did want the contact information for the online store I bought the exhaust from.

I contacted the guy who I bought the borla from, but it's been close to a year now, so he wasn't able to find it. I'll ask him to see if he can contact the company he bought it from to get a new invoice.
