A bit longer? This thread was started back in february.. Is a bit 7 months? I dont hope the price goes up a bit.. we'll be looking at a 10,000 dollar FI system.. oh wait.. thats SSR

 

my girlfriend is cantonese, speaks it fluently, Mandarin too...could she be of some help on this one?

I will be looking out for the shops involve. Anyone know who would do RX-8 or RX-7 in HK? I might buy the next Option Fans and start emailing. I just want to get parts from HK!

Why have you chosen not to use the axial supercharger design being made by RP? That is my leading candidate for FI.

 

If it gives us a legit 50 hp from a roots type SC that is pretty good, but $5K is pretty steep for this setup. Jackson Racing is only charging $3K-$4K for similar setups (other cars). I would understand if it needed injector, and an ECU re-program if it was $5K but it is supposed be a simple install.

 

I do believe the part about the MS 6. The part I don't believe is that a dealer already knows for sure about forced induction on the 8 and we don't. Regardless of what they think they know, dealers really don't know anything anyone else can't find out.

I know it comes with engine management.Im not sure about injectors not sure if needed for such small numbers.Anyone else see adds in turbo and high tech or modified for this??Looks like its for real.

 

I just want it to be available, I don't care about price right now. Nobody has one available yet, and maybe when they do, then I will be concerned with the price.

The axial flow solution being discussed here seems way out as far as a time-line goes... I just had a very interesting conversation with Maurice @ Canzoomer, he is currently working on the engine management for the Sunflower system and thinks that the stock computer even with a piggyback like the CZ unit will not be able to handle the FI at low RPMs... They will be installing an electric clutch on the supercharger and have it kick-in at about 5-5.5k RPMs...

 

Can't control it at low rpm's? That makes no sense to me.

 

handle, not control.. maybe the AF mixture is too low at low end to allow for boost? What's the point of a supercharger if you clutch it? Might as well go turbo in that case....

 

A better question is what good is a new or piggyback ecu if it can't control fuel/ignition for the entire rpm range? Personally if I were to use forced induction, I'd want it for the full rpm range and not just the top end. This isn't a race car we are talking about. It is a street car. Boost it where it is needed most. I still say use the Ric Shaw ecu with a map sensor. You don't need to rely on the maf after boost kicks in.

 

I'm sure it can control the fuel/ignition across the entire range, but maybe low end boost + higher AF required to run the boost is not producing more power than stock? I dunno. I'm not the rotary god, you are :b

 

Another one of the issues is that at low rpms all but one intake tract is closed because of the variable intake system and the volume even with FI is not enough to make enough of a difference... Maurice feels that in order to take advantage of low rpm gains from FI you need to control the points at which the additional servos open up the tracts to allow enough air volume...

The real solution is to take control of the factory ECU and reprogram it completely not only changing A/F ratios but all the activation points for the VFAD and VFIT including the points at which the different fuel injectors kick in...

 

How would you set up a system in which you could use a MAP and MAF sensor? I've written a thread about this elsewhere, and I learned a lot from what everyone had to say. I'm looking into a stand-alone EMS, since I plan on making around 380 turbochargerd rwhp. I don't think a piggyback ECU would be able to do that. I'm not %100 sure. I would like to include a MAP sensor (the decision whether to draw or blow-through the MAF is puzzling and hasn't been resolved), but I don't want to go through all of the extra work trying to wire and tune it.

 

I guess what it really comes down to is what are you willing to give up in the fuctionality of the car to get control over engine management. Everything else....ABS DSC, Traction control, etc is run with the ECU and is integrated with the engine management...........so a stand alone will probably severly impact on those

 

Luckily, I don't have TCS, or DSC, so that eliminates two parameters. I believe most, if not all, stand-alone EMS' have auxiliary inputs for these functions. I think losing overall functionality (is that a word?) of the car is becoming a myth. I say, "if it doesn't work, then make it."

 

well the Blitz kit's ad is everywhere now, i can see it in almost all the mod car mags in 7-11, but it said "coming soon..." btw, the blitz rx8 is in Japan for sure, I don't think you'll see that rx8 driving in HK, the whole exterior is illegal, cops will tell you to pop the hood, once they see your supercharger, your car will be towed.
