I don't see any other information other than the price. What about a PCM upgrade, or a list of materials? I think it's pretty shady for BLITZ to do such a thing. Perhaps what we're looking at is only a price list? At least it's not vaporware.

Blitz Compressor

WHat's up guys. i just got off the phone with blitz, they said their compressor kit is coming out soon. The dude told me it's supposed to produce 55psi, which would roughly be 45-50hp. And estimately would cost $5000-5500! what do u guys think of that? worth the money or bust?

I think you mean 5 psi and not 55 psi.

Exclamation from the horses mouth

i was at the dealer today finishing up details on my purchase. on my way out i asked the manager when mazda was going to force feed the rx-8. he told me it could be as much as a couple of years. reason is the 6 is getting the mazdaspeed treatment first!

Dealers are typically slower to know the news than we are. Strange. Different people at different dealerships will tell you different things. I would just consider it another rumor until it shows up at the Tokyo Auto Salon.

The latest indication is that we will see a MS 6 followed by maybe a MS 3, then in 2006 a convertible RX8 and maybe even a two door coupe version... Then maybe 2007 we might see a MS RX8... (This is all from Automotive News...)

i still think the convertible thing is automotive "journalists" jumbling stories together and reporting something that is all mixed up. mazda is developing a convertable on the rx-8 chasis. but it isn't a convertable 8 its the new Miata. but these people hear that and then re-report it as "mazda is making a convertible 8".

Yes, MS FI would be good but does not look like it will happen... I will most probably get the Blitz kit when it is available in a few months... It will run about 5-6k and push about 6psi for a 80hp increase with the stock computer... And lots of torque down low; that is what we really need...

That should be about 310hp or about 240-260rwhp...

I wonder what she could do with some fuel management and 9psi? I would like to see 320rwhp or about 380-400hp...

$100 for every HP is a little steep.

However, it is possible that while the peak HP increase is only 50HP (300ps vs. 250ps stock where ps is international unit of HP), percentage-wise the increase down in RPM might be greater. In other words, even though 50HP is only a 20% increase of power over stock, I bet there is more than 20% more power on hand at the lower RPMs. (at 4500 RPM's the RX-8 makes about 125 HP. I am guessing the Blitz is about 165 HP or 30% more)

Whereas a turbo system usually only makes more power from mid-RPM's up, most non-centrigual supercharged systems usually make more power from idle all the way up.

This all conjecture but I bet the peak increase numbers of HP don't fully describe the performance boost the Blitz system will have. It is average HP increase throughout the RPM band that most people should be interested and with the Blitz I bet it will be more than the 20% increase in overall power than what the 50HP number suggests.

Regardless, $5000 is a bit steep (don't forget install costs)
