I'm only an engineer but I can still remember simple math from grade school.
I think my teachers would be proud.

You forget one important thing, the dealers.
If I have a sale that gets down around my dealer cost then how can they sell product. I must respect that they need some profit in order to stay in buisness.
Sure this would be a limited time offer but it still steals their sales.

Now if I were to find a good advertising medium
that would bring a group buy of 100 or more then I could make a quick run just for that and pass the savings along. Also giving my dealers the option of saving the same amount. But there is no Mazda specific publication that has the circulation needed. Ads in big mags are out of my budget. It couldn't support from these sales as there are not enough Rx8's out there.

Just curious but if you dropped the price to $200 shipped you dont think you could get 100 buyers from the forum? I am also looking to get one and have driven a few friends rides with it... I will be buying it some time in the future just not sure when. (I am keeping posted)

Did you just follow the DIY thread for the install or are there instructions that you received with the shifter?

no ****! You make theirs? I remember seeing something about the offering a short shifter in a magazine or RMagic ad (in a magzine)... That is cool.

Got it today after only ordering friday! (I couldnt belive my eyes when i saw the package today), have installed and loving it.

I LOVE the 1-2-3-4 changes, but getting it into 6th is quite difficult, and 5th near impossible, i made sure i installed the plate back with the pins in place, but it almost seems like it wont move to the right enough.

Anyone else have this?

Edit: Never mind, found in DIY thread...

So what I did is I loosened the 3 bolts that hold the plate to the gearbox, checked for sideways movement and found probably 0.5mm of travel (in the two dowel pins and matching locating holes), and retightened the 3 bolts whilst applying pressure to the shift lever in the right hand direction. Upon assembly I probably gained about 1.5mm extra side freeplay in the shifter and I am more comfortable with the feel now. I also re-applied a thicker grade grease (especially on the reverse lockout tang where it butts and slides against the 3 bolt plate side edge) which also helped the over all feel of the shifter.

Yup it has happened a couple of times before. Remove it and file the reverse lock out tab just about .010 to start with. Use a cross cut file holding the shifter in a vice with soft jaws. If you have a calipers try taking smaller amount off and check in the car. I think .010 will do it and it can't hurt it.

This happens to cars at the end of the Mazda tolorance. We haven't seen this in quite a while. I thought we found just the right spot to build them to. Oh well, not hard to fix. I can't make them shorter at the factory because it will go the other way on us. Sorry it had to happen to you.

You could do like Hymee and just crank the screws down anywhere it happens to fall.

In the end i took off 0.25 mm, but that didnt help much, i ended up taking the pins out of the shift plate/gate, and adjusting the position of this until the stroke was perfect. The pins pull out easily with locking pliers, and are still ok to go back in if you want to set the gate back to stock position.

Great shifter, i can nail the 2nd -> 3rd change every time now, instead of screwing it up like i always did with the stock shifter.

I just shipped the last three shifters I had. We are running a new batch right now, hope they will be done by the end of the week. If you ordered one it has been shipped except the one just above this post.
If you order one we will honor the price even if they get shipped late.
But I think we can ship every sale we get before the end of the month.

See the new webbsite.

Just installed mine last night. Took only about 15 minutes - hardest part was that first R/H tab by the e-brake. I was pushing it the wrong way, but I figured it out before it broke. Follow the instructions in the DIY section. The shift action is very mechanical and the throws are short. My gates were really notchy with the stock shifter, and they still are. I had some noticeable whine at first, but after I took out the green cotton thingy and moved the inner shift-boot washer farther down on the shifter, it all but went away. Shifts are much cleaner and faster now. Highly recommended.

Shifters are coming off the line and we can ship again.
Haha, the shop fooled me this time, only one day of no supply.
Maybe that's that's because Dana and I are both out sick???????

BTW, I have to talk to Gomez about my new way of removing the consol.
I just yank on the boot and get all the other tabs loose. Then you can easily pull the last one free. Works like a charm. I've done it to three customer cars besides my own.
