Anyone got a rough idea of exhaust noise on a single silencer system?

withut a cat converter you likely can't make it with a single muffler, but you also failed to mention on what dB scale at what distance from the source so nobody can actually answer the question intelligently

Because chances are the measurements won't be the same as ours from anyone else running one so I need the specifics of their measurement to give a rough conversion to mine, so my side isn't relevant

Otherwise I'd spend all day posting up data for the conversion factors when I can just do the work myself

could you just go with a supertrapp system and adjust as needed?
on pre mix---just use 1oz per gal and leave the omp in place---the most simple solution. I have never trusted the omp. We have street cars that have 5K miles ON TRACK and no problems in that regard. I personnally have over 1.5K track miles on my 52K engine--no problem in that regard.
Just keep an eye out for any fuel pump problems/starvation---it has been shown that pre mix in binding with normal gas sediment and over time has the possibility of affecting the filter enough to cause starvation issues.
Sweet work,

The only similar systems over here are quite a bit of cash, and this is a low budget car so we're making up the mufflers ourselves. I've never been convinced about the effect they have on back pressure either to be honest.
The fuel won't be in the tank long enough to sediment as the tank is empty after one stage, although I'll bear that in mind just in case, thanks.

Ok, we've gone with a single 16x7x5 silencer, carborundum core with fibreglass in the rest.

We shall see what it's like once the engine mounts are done and the ECU is wired in next month.
If its too loud we'll get another silencer in there at a push, just a bit concerned about getting too much heat around the coil area.

Might do, so long as it lasts a day or two it's fine, we've made it re-packable.

The carborundum is woven so it shouldn't be too bad.

Probably, but it doesn't really silence as well as glass mat, might end up putting a layer of stainless around the perforated tube if they blow out too fast.
