But my bet is that tomorrow you're gonna feel like your foot is in your mouth.
Edit) Hey I just looked it up and you ordered it Friday, this is Wen and you're bitching?

Everyone who got their shifter in the last week may have a problem.
We heard from one customer who could not get reverse.
Seems the reverse lockout on this last batch is at the long end of tolorence.
If this stacks onto a short tolorence from Mazda you can't get reverse.
Check for this before you put the console back together. If this is the case send it back right away and we will fix it. We will pay for shipping.
It's my fault and I'm sorry for any waste of your time.
We will remachine the rest of the ones yet to ship.

tough to find better service then that. Hell, I remember when Richard personally installed my shifter at his shop and took the time to grind down the reverse lockout just a TINY bit to ensure perfect fit.
Perfectionist.
Been over 2 years and I could never imagine my 8 without his shifter.

Ordered Nov 12, got mine today. WOOT. Didn't pay much attention to the package laying on the kitchen table at first. It was about the size of a hardback book. For some reason I had envisioned a bigger package like an old school Hurst shifter or something lol. If I can't get reverse, is there some tweaking I can do myself without voiding warranty? It's going to very hard make myself remove it and send it back without a test drive. Hmmm.. I always just roll back down my steep driveway anyway.... It can't much more than removing a couple thousanths, right?
I have access to a full machine shop at work. Thanks.

Take .010-.012 (.25mm) off the top surface of the lockout tab.
You can observe the amount by looking at the top plate to tab clearance before you reinstall the console. Everyone is a little different do to factory tolorences.
Those out of the country should look into having it done locally because it is very little work compared to the customs and mailing nessasary to return it.
It requires a milling machine though. I guess it could be done in a lathe also.
A surface grinder could take that much from a spot on the top plate.

If it works your fine. So far it has only been one car. We had this problem two years ago but we adjusted the tolorence an extra .005 and haven't had a problem since. I may have jumped the gun by saying something after just one complaint. We'll wait a day or so for everyone else to install theirs.
I'm going to put one in my car tomorrow and see.

I'm an idiot for opening my mouth, one guy calls out of 20 and I think there's a problem with all of them.
Nobody else has had a problem, just put it in and forget I said anything.
You can't tell, it's very hard to get accurite reading even for a machine shop as you need to get the center of the ball. And we are talking .001's of an inch here.
I'll put one in my car later and see what's going on. So right now I'm not modifying any of them.
Like Jedi said I had to just touch his with the polisher to get it to fit and that was 2 years ago.
It's just some cars at the end of the factory tolorence.

I just installed mine and it is A W E S O M E. Reverse works perfectly, much better than stock. No modification was required. I don't need a month or to go back to the stock shifter to know this is the best mod ever. I love the little things that some people were trying to change: notchy feel, stiffer, click clack shifts, and the transmission sounds are music to my ears. I have the VooDoo magnum **** and it is a perfect compliment to this shifter. If you don't have one... get one... now. Do it. Do it.

Low, I can't believe it took you this long to get one! This is the mod that just KEEPS on giving!
