I want to know what you all did with the vacuum line.... to cap or not to cap, that is the question

i did that at first, but then I talked with Mazsport and they said let that bad boy breathe, but I just dont know what to do with it

 

Well....if Racing Beat tells you to cap it and they send you a little cap....then that's good enough for me........I say....."cap it".

ok if I were to cap it... where is the best place to cap? should I remove the line all the way back to the intake manifold? or should i cap at the tip right near where the vfad should be?

 

IMO......remove hose, and cap at intake. I guess it really wouldn't matter too much, but then again you don't want you hose flopping around in the engine bay!

if you remove the vdaf the line is gone..... you plug the nipple on the intake...

i guess a photo would help.. i doubt mazsport would say leave an open vacuum line to the intake..

Leave it uncapped and see what happens to your idle

 

i spoke with Mantis and thats what she said to do, but as for a look at whats going on give me a few minutes

 

this is what I got, the entire vacuum line is still attached, all the way till the front of the airbox. That is where you see the open vacuum line

 

Remove everything up to the intake manifold and cap it. If you don't have a cap, they can be purchased at your local Autozone.
I can't view your pics while at work (damn company filters) to see what kind of intake you have, but if you still have the stock hose that runs behind your front bumper installed, then you really don't need to remove the VFAD assembly.

 

cap it with a machine screw down the hose just after that 90deg. bend .

What are those orange hoses ?

 

the orange is actually red... its the power to the amps

 

i still have the stock airbox with k&n inside, so i felt like removing the vfad

 

Now I'm confused.
If you still have the stock air box installed (and I'm sure you still have the stock hose behind the bumper that houses the VFAD actuator), why would you want to remove the whole VFAD assembly?

 

Because the VFAD restricts alot of airflow below 4000 RPM to reduce noise.

 

if you follow the line you will notice a check valve on it... so it does not matter if you cap it or not... this is from what i have seen

 

whats the big deal here anyways? just cap the thing...it can't hurt to do it as has been proven by many, many people with their aftermarket intakes and such. and if you want to go a seperate way from the rest of the herd then just don't cap it and see what happens...but know that most if not all the people on this forum have capped and have had no problems

 

^ I know... I originally stuck a skrew in it and i felt a power lose, now it is uncapped and not much better, but I think I will cap it again.

 

Pull everything off, at the intake manifold, put a plastic cap on it.

There is no way Scott would recommend that you leave a vacuum leak.
