^^^ rpms higher, 1/4 mile 0-60 times a bit lower, but for sure you're going to pull harder from a roll

With no additional shifting, your 0-60 time should be faster. Your 1/4Mile should be faster, your RPMS at the top of each gear will be the same but your max speed for that gear will be slower.

For example, with the standard gears at 9000 RPMs I think our cars top out at 65MPH in second gear. With the 4.778 gears at 9000 RPMs I read that we should hit 60MPH...this is only an example based on my limited reading of this topic.

This reminds me of the ?1991-1992? GMC Syclone. It was Chevy Small pick-up truck (S-10 I think) that was faster then a ferrari in the 0-60 mph and maybe in the 1/4 mile. It was gut wrenching fast but it had a top speed of only like~112 MPH...not sure the exact top speed but the gearing rev limited out the V8 engine. It was so fast because the gearing was very aggressive, thus it had great acceleration but lacked high end top speed.

Most daily driving is not top end also, so this final gear would be a blast to drive around town.

I have done this on all my cars( rx-2, and some rx-7), it is one of the best mods you can do, an specially on a NA car, it makes the car a lot more fum to drive and faster.

Question, would this differential fit in a Miata or the other way around? the reason I ask is because Miatas (or there is a set) has a 4.875.

The KIA 4.778 ring and pinion set DOES NOT FIT the RX-8 differential. I just checked this last night, I have to put my car back together tonight.

Would it just not fit the 7.5" ring gear?

The ring gear on the KIA is 0.5" smaller than the RX-8 ring. Pinion height is the same but the diameter at the rear bearing is larger. The actual gear part of the pinion is 2.5X larger on the RX-8. The RX-8 has a different r/p gearset than the 1st gen and previous miatas.

MazMart is putting in the 3.9 and 4.1 in their exchange sale, what are they using, third gen RX-7?

The removal of the pumpkin involves, it's almost all in the service manual,
1. uninstalling the front and rear chassis braces perpendicular to the power plant beam,
2. remove the power plant beam connecting the tranny to the body to the pumpkin,
3. remove the drive shaft cover on the power plant beam, the entire exhaust (cat back and cat and O2 sensor, note that there is a ground strap at the left corner of the muffler connected to the chassis),
4. remove the 2 plastic exhaust finishers in the bumper so you can remove the exhaust (the jackstands were not tall enough so I couldn't pivot the sucker out),
the tires, brakes calipers,
5. remove the 2 balljoints on each hub so you can swing out the hubs (both sides)
6. remove the speed sensor and abs sensor on the hub,
7. remove the ride height sensor endlink for DSC on the hub,
8. remove the drive shaft connected to the pumpkin (YOU NEED to put a piece of 4X4 in the back space where the diff drain/fill plugs are between the pumpkin and the chassis so when you remove the drive axle and/or drive shaft the pumpkin doesn't swing down and hit the ground),
8. remove the drive axles,
9. and finally remove the pumpkin.

S2000/Kia 4.77 ring and pinion for sale cryogentically treated.
