Hey I just moved to Fayetteville NC.... Hopefully temporary... Ive only seen one 8 since Ive been here, anyone from the area?

 

Just wanted to pass along...some of us in the RRDI are heading to VIR next weekend(28th-29th) for the VIR 400 Rolex GrandAm races. The GT cars race on Sat. and the DP cars race on Sun. Also, the Skip Barber championship series will there and the Star Mazda racing series! It's pretty big weekend, hope some of you can make it out!

 

hope mills NC right next to bragg and fayetteville, i go to the meets in raleigh alot just not in my car which will be changing soon should have everything up to day on monday.

 

Just wanted to remind everyone the Wings Over Wayne Airshow is fast approaching. I have secured the best possible parking anyone could ask for...on the flightline with the aircraft on display! Those of you who attended last year's airshow noticed there were a few car clubs parked out on the flightline and wondered why we couldn't do that also. Well, we can this year! All I need is a head count of who is attending so, I can get all the special events passes together.

It's more or less a car show...no prizes will be awarded but I think it would be nice to show off the rotary!!!

Now the gates open for the general public at 9am...I'm being told by Ground Ops we should plan on being there at 8am so, we can get the cars parked and roped off. Ofcourse this means we get to meet at the CB in Smithfield just off I95. I'm not real sure on a time yet, but we'll work it out. Just remember it's a 30-45 min drive from the CB to the front gate.

Also, we are not sure at the moment if the Blue Angels will attend since they suffered a loss of a pilot at their airshow in SC this past Saturday. More to come...

 

I am from Fayetteville. I just purchased my 8 a few weeks ago. It is a 04 AT Winning blue GT. I bought it from Rick Hendricks Toyota. It only has 7000 miles on it and is in perfect shape. I have taken a few pics but none worthy to post. I plan on taking some good pics in the next week or so. When I do I will post them. Are there any groups around the Fayetteville area. I would love to go to the track with my 8.

 

I just moved to Fayettevill e3 weeks ago. I have a black 8 with pink calipers. I have only seen one other 8 since Ive been there. It was a blue, I honked but I dont think the driver was paying much attention :o) If you find any groups around the area let me know, closest I know of is in Raleigh

 

I haven't seen alot of 8's around fayetteville. I did see another winning blue on bragg I think 2 days in a row. Now that I own an 8 I will start seeing alot more.

 

I'm in for the Air show nic. This year, I won't get a speeding ticket . If we need to be there by 8, we should probably hit the RMS (rotary meeting spot aka cracker barrel haha) between 6 and 6:30 so we can leave a little after 7. You guys from fayetteville should come on out too. Special parking = photo op .

Alright all, looks like I didn't get much support from my car club on the May 12th airshow in Goldsboro, NC. But I have secured 8 spots on the flightline and have 4 cars as of yet to fill them...I'd like now to have just an RX-8 showing at the airshow. It should be a great time...it will be the Blue Angles first show back after their accident in SC and there will be a Pearl Harbor demo and a hell of a lot more!!! The last Blue Angels show I saw (NAS Oceana last year) was great. Looking forward to seeing them again. The pearl harbor thing looks to be pretty cool as well (haven't ever seen it before). I'm officially a North Carolina person now. Been here about 2 weeks now.

 

^^ all official north carolina persons must attend the rotaries and wings air show (I made up the rotaries and wings part but it's catchy so I'm running with it haha.. it's actually wings over wayne but rotaries and wings > wings over wayne).

base of operations is out of Statesville, NC. Sadly, I probably will rarely be there anymore (trying to find a job up in the DC area...), and it's not often that I drive one of our RX-8s out on the street...

 

Roar racing.. were you guys at GT Live last year? I remember there being at least two roar teams there.

 

actually... just did a quick search, and I do remember that event at VIR. Yes, we were there. I didn't remember it being the GT-live weekend, because we were there for the Grand-Am race.

 

ahh yeah I guess for you guys it was just the grand am cup. The gt live stuff was mostly for us non racing folk. Which number cars were you guys driving?
