You're right about that, nothing sounds quite as good as a small block.. Ford!

Just kidding, the Vette sounds awesome, and the handling looks to be phenomenal too. I think you had the 4th fastest time in the race on your 1st outing on that very tight technical track. Can't wait to see how you'll be smokin' em at RA!

Good show Jody.

Thanks, Francois. And, you're right, no V8 sounds as good as a Ford. They have a very distinctive sound. I wish Chevy would clone it.

The Vette is a pretty easy car to drive. I'm not sure about my times, but the tires were old and tired. I have some new ones on order that should be here at the end of the week, just in time for VIR at the end of the month.

Dave, didn't you sell your EVO and get a Mustang or something? Bring it on out enjoy the track with us.

Thanks Olddragger. Yea, I think that Mustang guy had a reason to be pissed.
No, it's not a wink mirror, it's just a wide convex mirror. No matter how wide they are, they're never wide enough.

I have gone through several iterations. I got tired of building, so I was looking at some Cobras and Cobra R's (95). However, I am starting to get the itch for something lite-weight, maybe a S2000 or old Porsche. ...... Still debating, but the key is NO MOD PAYMENT. Whatever I buy will be done. I will keep you informed.

I didn't say it wouldn't be modded, I just will do it all at once....and pay CASH. I like this no car payment thing....

Besides, I really need to finish my dad's father's day car, before I start anything else, so I really need to be strong.

CMP is NOT my best track but I'm working on it!

Nice vid. Why were you throwing your hand up at the beginning of the video when you were behind the miata? Is it because he wasn't letting you by or something else?

Yep, this guy would'nt know a point-by from a hole in the wall and the guy behind me (Rob) kept signaling me to just GO-GO-GO! It eventually got worked out..

Good videos....looks like the track was a touch green. TA2 had his hands full putting the power down in the tight corners, and TA just was at the limit of what the suspension could do. You see the car load, and then .....

All in all....great fun.

frickin' unload. My tires are starting to age as well. The new shocks will help. I will also tweak alignment settings. It isn't readily obvious from the video but turn-in is pretty sucky. I think that a touch more front camber will help as will zeroing out the toe. I have a bit of toe-in right now. Zeroing it out should pull me into a corner better. Corner exit will be improved with better damping.

If you want to help turn in, do the following....

1. More Camber, at least -2.0, but more is better.
2. Caster, yes, more is better, but don't go too extreme, or it will be come jittery on the straight.
3. Swaybar, bigger is better for slow speed corners, and will also help 'feel' in high speed.
4. Ditch the rear sway ....noted, as helping the car to unload mid-corner, as well as help with turn in...never tried it though, I may on my mustang.
5. Lower the front (slow) bump, relative to the rear. if you have the shocks off, I would have the front revalved to be lower than rear....however, it will make the car loose...TA=drift king....

Oh, and toe out on the front. I ran something like -1 degree. The toe-in is killing your turn-in, I guarante..

Well those pics are really great and much appreciated! I'm sure it took a lot of work to get those together. Looks like it's time for me to start working on that body roll problem.

those tires you have are huge, there is one shot of you coming out of the pits, and they look massive.

stay flat parts are fun, and IMO make a huge difference. but you looked like you were doing good out there.

The big tires have started to look normal to me. When I switch back to the stock set they just look small. I was switching them back out this past weekend and the drivers front really took a beating.

yep, CMP is a right turn type of track. Roebling is the same way, but the new surface was kind to tires.
