Phlash that really sucks. Sometimes I wonder if stuff is made to fail right after the warranty is up. I'm getting a little worried about mine now. I only have 20K though so I have a ways to go if they don't try to void it.

I was looking at the odo on my Jeep this weekend. It has 126K on the clock and still runs great (knock on wood). I'd get in the Jeep right now and drive to California with no worries about car trouble. I don't have a good feeling about my 8 making it to 100K.

I just bought an SA2005 helmet the other day myself. I was told a few times to get a new helmet.

That's just crazy! It's still low mileage. I wonder if Mazda would do anything to defer your costs. I've got about 91,000 on my engine and would expect it to get at least 91,000 more. One of my previous RX-7's was running strong at 235,000 miles. I hope things work out for you.

I would be curious to know which seal it was. Did Charlie do a compression test? Was it one chamber bad or two? Two = apex, One - Side Seal. Usually anyway.

Damn Phlash - don't know what to say. Sux when bad things happen to good people.

I am so happy I am still under warranty, and looks like it is time to hunt for a new DD. 4$ gas prices had me thinking about it anyway, but this kind of pushes me a bit closer. Just don't have a clue what I want.

its the front rotor---this is what is blowing in na cars---in fi (turbo only!) it is the rear, bet to $100 to $1 it was an apex seal.
I would love to see the exhaust ports and the condition on the seal/springs--i have an idea already what the housings are going to look like.

Wonder why the front more than the rear? Both have oil injection pointing to the wrong place. I'll bet the 2009 engine with the 3rd oil injector fixes the problem but it's too late for some.

I think swoope is the closest thing to a track virgin we have. Don't know if he has tracked before or not. At least it will be a first with us.

Evo one didn't pan out, Evo two and Three are still in the running. One is an RS, the other is an MR, Evo X MR .

I come to realize after speaking with one of my rotory mentors today, one thing we DONT need to do. If we have car troubles it is not the dealers fault. Dont blame the dealer. Unfortunaly they are in a "front" line position to catch owners complaints, irritabilities etc. But, we need to remember that they are usually good guys just trying to pay off their credit cards like we are(not the owners now but the service people!). Hell, take them donuts, ask-- dont demand, treat them with appreciation for what they CAN do(some things they cant), and with respect. Share what knowledge you have about the car in a constructive way. If they make a mistake---well who the hell doesnt! Guess "The Golden rule" is what I am saying. I myself need to refocus a little.
Yea we complain about engines and trans etc etc, but i remembered the rotory has only 3 moving parts so if only one is messing up it is much more of a big deal than a recip engine with many moving parts.
Come to think of it also--we do drive these cars hard---admit it. You dont drive it like the honda minivan you have. To expect the same out of it is not fair.
Yea--lets get fired up, BUT lets do it constructivly--to make it better---not to run it down. Its a great car, great engine--problems? Sure ---so what. Lets fix them.
We purschased this car to have fun with it--so lets have fun I know its the most fun I have had in a while---i didnt even know any of you people before i got this thing for example.

This weekend I'll change oil to 20w50, tighten bolts, pump up my RA1's and check for leaks, replace the rubber sleeves on my brake caliper sliding pins, clean my air filter and I will be impatiently waiting for RR.

We are still needing some supplies for swoops initiation, od, do you still have those two large gator clips for the nipple rings we hook up to the generator? Also, since phlash will not be joining us, we need someone to bring that large tarp. Last time the 12'x12' foot just wasn't enough and we have more people this time. Don't worry, swoope, the pain doesn't last very long. When you pass out, you will not even know what happens.
