Probably the Holiday Inn Express. Only because it is very close to the track. There is not a lot out there. Anything closer to town, and most of us would stay at home, and just drive back to the track. I think that is going to be our best option. I wish it was not $108, that is a lot for a H.I.E., but it is the proximity to Chateau Elan driving that price. I have not looked to see if there were some less expensive hotels nearby. Maybe I need to. Maybe a recon trip out there is in order, a good excuse to get out on the highway.. I have ruled out tent camping it, I am just not in the mood for that, I need to get some decent rest, and that just won't happen in a tent.

I really am starting to get antsy again. The new issue of Car & Driver has an article where they tested the Lotus Exige and Porsche Cayman S at RA, and their descritptions of the corners, specifically turn 12, make me want to get back there badly.

EDIT: There is a Best Western about 4 miles from RA.

and it is only $84. That extra $20 will be needed for gas I think I will make my reservation there. If it is not already full.

L8, Oakwood will be your best bet for prices and the distance is not that far from the track. I forgot the name of the place but it's on the opposite side of the 316 from the Waffle House which is where we usually meet for breakfast. Staying at the Chateau Elan area would be really nice but get ready for dropping the big bucks.

Guys I swear I think this is going to be the best gathering of the 8's we have ever had---and we have had some pretty dang good one's!
It just won't be the same without Charlie and Phash though. Also remember a lot of us will be putting out more horses this time!

NASA's hotel deal is with the Comfort Inn - $63/double, $57/single. Mention NASA.

Well guys, as much as it saddens me to say this, I will not be joining you at RA. I spoke with someone from NASA(I think Julie?), and switched from RA to Roebling Road. I can drive to this site in a couple of hours vs. the 7 hours to RA. Get a hotel for 1 night vs. three. I just had to purchase some v710's for autox, so the "racing fund" is running a bit low. Have a blast, I am in for sure at Roebling Road so I'm sure that some of you will be there.

whiterex, I am sorry to hear that you won't make it to RA. But it is understandable. See you at Roebling, I think we are going to have a good turnout for that one too, maybe a few less drivers, and a couple workers, but we will still be there.

Just made my reservation for the Comfort Inn. That is where I stayed last year (had free room points to use up). It is directly behind the Waffle House we met at for breakfast every morning.

Phone # 770-287-1000

I-985 Exit 16 (Mundy Mill Rd)

Yeah, those tires are done. At my last event, they were worse than street tires. I'm goin to Ft. Myers this coming weekend, so I needed as much grip as possible.

Well, normally I bring my impact hammer, and my brake fluid, my torque wrench, couple of chairs, and maybe my air compressor. Good enough?

Sorry to hear Whiterex won't be with us in March. Look forward to meeting you at Roebling.

Hey Blue--probably will not need the impact, air is at the track and we all have the stock compressor that the car comes with. None of us ever bleed the brakes during the track w/e, some of us do on the tuner day before the 1st track day. Chairs are good, container for all your "stuff" is good, We will have plenty of jacks around, tools, oh yea dont forget to bring your oil althought I guess you could buy a little here if you like.
this is a list of what I bring
1- track wheels/tires/lugnuts/tire bags
2-chairs/container for stuff
3- car numbers/wax and tape
4-air pressure gauge!
5- tools/torque wrench/electric wrench/koni shock adjusted tool
6-helmet
7- extra oil
8-window cleaner
9-track towels
10-track work blanket
11- sunscreen and sunglasses
12-tire cleaner(when I have to reload and go home!)
thats about it

sounds like a pretty good list OD. Do you guys run with the locking lugs on your wheels while at the track? I would assume no. Also, what do you use for window cleaner, just like Windex or something similar?

no locking lugs, can be a problem in a hurry. I finally got rid of mine, and am glad I did. For cleaning glass, I like the "invisible Glass", it is a spray can, and does a really good job, and does not streak. It takes a little to get it right and dry, but it works really well.

I am going to get together my track prep list, and combine it with TA's, and I will post it up soon. We don't want anyone to forget to bring something....
