for RA, I will work, and stay at home. I don't eat much during the day, especially at the track. My guess, workign RA, I might spend 40 dollars on gas. That is a lot less than $350. And for CMP, the room is $55, split three ways, and the gas to get there and food. You gotta work with me here, I am trying to convince my sefl I am doing it right. Even if I spend 150 bucks, that is less than the 450 or so that it will cost me to actually drive the event. More gas + tire wear. I really need to make the tires I currently own, make it through the year. Beleive me, if I could drive CMP, RA and RR, I would. But I can't

Trust me, I understand your reasoning. I used the same tactic but somehow, I've not managed to work one time this year.

yeah, i had planned on working Roebling in May, and we know how that turned out. But I am sticking to it. I have to. Because in case you forgot, my agreement with the wife, when I spend a lot of $$ to do something, she gets to. SO if the entry fee for NASA is 300, it really costs me 600.

Guys - I will have a free room at the Hilton Garden Inn next to Road Atlanta and we can try and fit as many people as you like to cut down on cost if you want. I get a bed this time although.

I'm in. Just got back from Jamaica so it's wonderful driving the RX-8 again and having cars on the RIGHT side of the road!

Did you guys read the article in Car&Driver of the FI RX8 that they say has been able to break into the program of the ECU? Your light car, that much torque, and a high rev limited would make your car a beast!

RE: Car & Driver- I believe the car had 340-360 hp. A beast! Cost was ~ $7k for the turbo kit but with everything it was more like ten grand.

Yea - the only thing I didn't like was the battery location to the turbo, they where almost touching each other. Talk about your battery not lasting more than a month! Yet, the battery is easy to move to a different location.

I'm staying at the Executive Inn and have 2 beds (Fri. and Sat. nites) if anyone wants to share a room. Post up here or call 919-918-2468 if interested. -Howard

Here's info from a previous post:

QUOTE:
Executive Inn in Kershaw. It's about 4 miles from the track. Don't expect any amenities but the close proximity is worth it. About $55 per night. You will have a BoJangles for Breakfast and Dinner is in Kershaw at a relatively nice restaurant. See my thread on the June 2nd for phone numbers of Hotels. Kershaw is a very small town so don’t expect any night life!

okay phlash and lego. I have booked the room with two beds at the executive inn in kershaw, for the 14th and 15th.

lego, TA, TA2 and I are going to meet up at an exit on I-20 East, just east of I-285, somewhere around 2:45-3:00 PM, to make ti a caravan to CMP. Let us know if you want to join that caravan.

I will be bringing the EZ-UP and all of our banners and that sort of thing, I will also bring a cooler, so that we can have waters and other assorted things in it. Maybe we can cut down on the amount of gear everyone has to bring.

L8- Would love to join you guys under the EZ-up if I can- I'm guessing the sun will be brutal in July. I can bring two folding chairs, another cooler w/ drinks and a floor jack + assorted tools. I haven't met any of you yet, but TA helped me over the phone installing my oil cooler- A/C screens.

Hey guys - you won't mind sending me a couple of Grassroots stickers so I can put them on my car when I am at Barber July 15th? You could send some to Lego since he and I live in the same town?

I have the GRM stickers, PM me an address and I will send a pile off to you MoodDude. I will bring them to CMP also, probably sport a couple on my car too, just for fun. I need to develop some of my photos from the RR event, and send them to Bill at GRM. I think someone else had some good pics too, whoever you were, can you load them into the Gallery on the GA Forum, in the Driving Events section.

Hey guys, just finished days 5&6 at CMP. If I decide to do CMP with NASA it will be day 9&10. I may actually sit this one out.

However, I thought you guys would get a kick out of seeing some shots from our weekend.

I have already registered...... I also, already have the tires.... I will be on RA1s for the Evo event, and on Goodyear slicks in Road Atlanta. I am shooting for 1:35's with my new turbo kit, which 'hopefully' will be on the car by then. The car makes 310whp now, with the kit, I will be pushing 390whp on mild setup, and up to 500whp if I want it.

You're my hero STF. Can't wait to see the beast. Registering today for HPDE 2. I spent 6 hours under the RX-7 Saturday installing suspension. After CMP, the 7 is taking over track duties.

Whoa... 1:35s puts you in the league of the very big boys. Be careful. Need a full cage in that thing!I was going to ask you for a ride but now I am skeered.

Look forward to seeing you again. Hope you can hang out with us this next time!

Cage, yes, the cage is going in too. I hate to put it in now, because of the weight, but that is true. Also, I am doing a brake rebuild / upgrade too. 1:35's maybe too hopeful, how about 1:38's.
