FYI -

If you are in need of numbers and don't want to build your own......

http://www.solotime.com

They range from $4.00 (magnetic) a number and up. Remember NASA requires a number of 10" or larger of a contrasing color (per the CCR - http://www.nasaproracing.com/rules/ccr.pdf).

Hi Guys!
Been keeping up with the thread and can't help but get excited along with you. Looks like I'll have the only stock car at the event! No new tires either, just the Bridgestones with 22k. Would like some help mounting my camera this time, if anyone can tell me what to get and help me with the install. I plan on going to Mazcare around 4 that Friday after work.
I haven't received my number yet!
Can't wait to see you guys again!!!

I'm still planning the flywheel install, with your help.

And plan on heading to Mazcare Friday PM as well. What is their address, or Phone # ?

Hi Pam - glad you're still with us, albeit silent. To mount your camera, you can either buy a suction cup mount (expensive) or do what the rest of us did. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and find a square aluminium tube about 30 inches long. We'll drill into the trunk pass through to secure the tube to your car. Camera mounts onto the tube. I am sure that between all of us, we can help you out with it. Charlie has a tool to make a threaded insert so it is easy to bolt the tube in or remove it later. I think Lego was the first to get this done. Maybe he has some additional ideas.

When will we now the number that NASA is going to let us use for the event? I haven't heard yet what number they are going to let me have. Also what style are you guys getting, I now the static ones won't stay on at 100 plus miles per hour.

Tim

When you signed up you had to request a number. It will probably be your first choice. Did you get an email from Julie Pantas as your confirmation? If not, email her and get clarification. Hope that helps...

I am going to get reusable vinyl numbers for my car.

Guys
Counting! Tim with that HP monster of yours you are going to blow whatever number it is off! Local striping/sign shop will custom make vinyl letters for about 20 bucks. Your color, your style (sweep back, sweep forward etc). One time use however. Do the car wax trick to protect the paint. I/m afraid magnetic ones will blow off. Heck I just may use masking tape and a magic marker. I'm number 5. Anyway thats what I requested and they said if we didnt hear back from them then it was ok.
I hope this is as well organized as Panoz. Sounds like there is going to be a lot going on with all the differant classes and races.
How do yall measure tire tread depth? have to buy something?

from the depth of the forums and the levels of instructors, I bet it's a better run event and we learn more than we did at Panoz.....

You guys have got me so hyped I feel like I should be prepping my car just to watch you guys run. I should be picking my 8 up tomorrow evening and I want to get "SilverEIGHT" cut at the sign shop to go at the bottom left/right of my rear window. Since I'm so pumped and can't wait to get it done I want to stop by the shop this afternoon and get them cut so I can put em on to stare at this weekend, can someone give me a dimension based on the attached image I applied text to?

No, you can use a coin. Use a penny and see how much of the head can't be seen. If you can see the top of the head, then the tire depth is 2/32" which is too little.

Yup, I've got a friend here at work that has been an instructor for NASA before. She can't make this one because she'll be at VIR during that weekend. She's told me that I'll have an excellent time and learn a lot. I'm bringing the pirelli slicks. If I can get my hitch fabbed and installed, I'll borrow and bring her tire trailer, if not, they fit well in the back seats. Damn, I can't wait! I've got a buddy coming to spectate and ride the second day.

Don't know my number yet, but if it's 08, 80, or 280 (the ones I asked for) I'm set. They are the thick magnetic ones, so I hope they stay on.

they still had rooms at the scottish inn when I called just now for people arriving on the 18th through the 20th. About the flywheel thing, normally you want to break it in for about 500 miles before really getting on it, or atleast that's what you tend to hear. So if that's true, it might not be such a good idea to change it over night and bang on it the next day at the track.

I think I'l go with some vinyl (with adhesive backing) and do the wax trick to protect the paint. I got 787, since I guessed 7 or 77 would have been taken.

I guess we'll have to do a Friday night cruise to break the flywheel in then, eh? I started hammering mine after about 200 miles and it still works great. I couldn't get mine to slip if I tried.
