FYI - When I email RB with a sway install question, I asked where the intake stood at this point. This was Jims answer:
The intake is getting REALLY close to being completed.
There are so many steps and processes involved with the casting, machining, drilling, and plating process for all the individual components, and a "hiccup" by any one of the vendors causes a big headache. We have had to overcome a couple flaky vendors during this production run, but everything is coming along nicely.
The cost figures look better than they were a couple months ago, and although this unit includes MUCH more than the simple tube/filter units that are available, the price will still be competitive.
Best regards,

Nabil, it's not that I am lacking confidence it's just that I need to focus on the turbo install and tune right now. To know that my "homies" have my back will help me to just jump into the event without concern as opposed to having to pore over the details. If you guys got the details covered then I'll make sure I represent well.
My car is not necessarily set up for drag racing. If it were I wouldn't have the traction problems that I do. It's really just a stock RX-8 with a bunch of crazy bolt-on stuff that happens to work well. The cooling and oiling systems are over-engineered so I am sure I can rag on this car all day and it will be fine.
I figure with just the turbo the car will run very close to the way it does with the nitrous, which is to say mid to high 12's. Adding the nitrous should take it to the high 11's. The nitrous/turbo combo is for the street/drag strip and the turbo alone for the course. Most courses don't allow the use of nitrous oxide.

Charles,
Do not worry about the logistic's. If you think enough of us and our event to drive as far as you have too, and are willing to share your knowledge about how you have worked on your car then thats the least we can do. Just register for the event per guides on this thread and show up. Your'e covered dude.
Running a road course in the 8 is like bringing it home. These events are NOT races. (Well sometimes it can kinda turns into a small one.) They are very safe and controlled(NOT speed limited). I know you like learning and believe me you are going to learn a lot. apex's, braking points, squaring off a turn, exits speeds, entry speeds, importance of the cool off lap, tire pressures, how smoothness equals speed ,happy tire sounds, rebel yells, how NOT to turn on your windshield wipers while turning, etc, etc.
Oh and by the way, a little hint, run with your tcs/dsc ON. Believe it or not the car is smoother and faster that way. Plus it can really save your butt.

When I joined NASA, I turned in my choice of numbers. Nabil, do you know when they'll let you know what number to use? I'd hate to spend money on magnetic numbers and then find out another senior NASA member has it.
blinker usage? isn't that for the slow cars

Okey Dokey, I just signed up for the event! I'm stoked now! I may bring the racig slicks to the event once I learn to use them. With the DCS on, they are great. They only slipped when I put on too much power during a turn. Once the tires are hot, they stick like glue, so I'd like to see what they do, exp on turn 7.
The $40 motel was the Scottish Inn. Ask them for the corporate rate and bring a badge.

Phlash,
How easy was the RB Sway install? I'm thinking of getting the front bar pretty soon. I'll put it in myself.

The rear sway is a breeze, the front one takes some wiggle work (okay, okay, a LOT of wiggle if you do it alone-it makes up for the rear being so easy), but despite the RB instructions, can be done with one person. I have the end links as well.

Brian seems to be a very good photographer. Many of his angles are very similar to what I have planned. Seem to be a couple angles I'm not familiar with due to not having a photo pass before. Yea, those esses do look good. Thanks for sharing the link.
Attached are a few images showing what you can expect from my camera. Wish you guys had some reflective graphics like the Audi! :D

okay, my father's in......so, he and I will be splitting a room for the two nights. The Scottish Inn sounds great. Not sure if they'll take my company for a corporate rate, but, we'll try. He'll have a blast. He's bringing a helmet, not sure about the "track tour" thing, but by gawd, he's ready and stoaked about going......
Lego, OD...is it the scottish inn on Oakwood Road?

I have been a wreck all weekend. March 19th is soooo far away. Don't know what to do with myself. If it wasn't so cold, a run up to to the North Ga mountains would have been fun. Maybe next weekend. Depends on the weather.
Phlash - is your dad gonna drive a car too or is he spectating?
I have been playing my video games driving around Road Atlanta in a 3 series BMW European Touring Championship car. If anyone here is into PC racing simulations I have the perfect setup. It is the "EA Sports F1Challenge '99-'02". There are many mods and add on tracks for the game including the 2003 European Touring Car Championship and an ALMS mod with all 4 leMans classes. I use a Logitech force feedback wheel and the gameplay is awesome. Here are a few screen shots to whet your appetite for March 19th (as if you arn't already salivating).

I have questions.......
Are the magnetic numbers required? I have not been assigned a number yet? When one does get a number, is it your number forever or until you give it up?
Anybody else besides my father and I staying near RA?
Saturday night plans?? Heck, Friday night dinner plans after Charlie's?
Which Waffle House we going to agree on? I find no mention of lunch being part of the deal with NASA. Are we on our own? Do we eat there at RA or go out? How much "lunch time" do we have?

Hey Phlash - congrats on the suspension bits. Sounds like you have the tricked out ride! Should be kick *** around the circuit. My car is at the dealership today getting some miscellaneous dash rattles fixed. Hope to pick it up in a few hours.
I don't know when we'll find out about our numbers. I am going to take Lego's advice and see if I can find something at Michael's that I can print out on my computer and make myself. I am thinking some kind of adhesive backed vinyl or magnetic sheets.
Has anyone bled or flushed their brakes yet? I think I will at least bleed my brakes but am leaning towards buying some ATE Super Blue Racing Dot 4 brake fluid and doing a flush. It would be a good opportunity to do the braided brake and clutch lines too. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards making that my mod for this track day. Each track day gets a new mod! Hopefully one will be a RB intake.

Scott at Mazcare states the braided brake lines ROCK! He did them on his ride and states that it gives the brakes some "meat". I know it did on the clutch line when I did it. RX7.com has some great pricing on them. I'll tell ya, I was really surprised at the brake feel difference that the MS front strutbar brake brace made.....Charlie had told me about it, but I guess it really didn't register until I made the change and really got on the brakes.....it's pretty impressive.
Misc dash rattle huh?? I'm curious as to what they do about them. Keep us posted.

Hey Phlash,
Lets see ,you have
1-ms strut bars(does help braking as it has a master cylender brace on it and if you watch the mc while someone is braking hard you can see it move!
2-rb sway bars/springs
3-ms flywheel
4-coilovers
5-cat back rb of course
6-green filter
7-kumho tires
and various other cosmetic's
damn dude you have a sponser or what?!
Now all you need is 4 wheel drive~! JK man.
Question-- I have been thinking about the stut bars, I know about the brake feel but what about the streering. Did you really notice any differance?
another question-- the flywheel----can you really tell the differance by the seat of your pants? Or does it just seem to rev faster? How much does Charlie charge to install that thing? Too me it's a lot of money if there is only a little differance. If it's a big differance then maybe.
Hell I have to keep up with you people.
yea, i will be staying somewhere near the track but its too soon to tell exactly where.
Oh the squeaks in the dash are usually part of the top directional vent on the dash. The cover just pops off with a little prying and then to can get to what is causing the noise.
later guys

Yeah, it's pretty wild to watch....braking hard has some meat feel.
2-rb sway bars/springs
Just the sways. The TEIN coilcovers have springs. I got a amazing deal from someone parting their car out before they sell it.
3-ms flywheel
See #2
4-coilovers
These I have wanted a long time...and again got a good deal.
5-cat back rb of course
See #4
6-green filter
Easy/cheap drop in......ebay
7-kumho tires
Good lord, but what I went through to settle on these.....

I had the CP racing bar for a while, so on the steering feel, yes at first...now I forget what it was like before. The brake brace made the big difference I can feel now.
another question-- the flywheel----can you really tell the differance by the seat of your pants? Or does it just seem to rev faster?
Both....above 4500rpms, it awakes!
How much does Charlie charge to install that thing?
Have to ask Charlie on that.....
Too me it's a lot of money if there is only a little differance. If it's a big differance then maybe.
You'll have to drive mine with the MS unit and Charlie's with the ACT unit (2/3 the weight of the MS unit). You'll see.....an option would be to wait until clutch replacement time to do it.
