GA *vs* Bama?
Hey, a friend just talked me into going from Atlanta to the AMA races this weekend at Barber... Man that is one cool track.
Anyway, it got me thinking we could do a GA "vs" Bama meet someplace. Maybe do an autocross or a track day or just meet and greet.
Anyone like this idea? Birmingham really isn't that long of a haul for us... get to see the Vulcan statue too. (Uhhh, anything else impressive over there?)

You guys really should have gotten in on the Magic City Mazda Mania coming up on May 28th. It'll include a show and shine, Poker run, parade laps at Barber, visit to Vulcan and dinner. But registration is full as I understand it. Check camsmx5.com for details. Other wise, I game. I don't get out much, so I'm not the one to organize such a gathering, but I'd love to help and would certainly participate. In fact if I didn't have other plans I'd come to the GA meet this Monday. I'll try to catch another one.

I just got back from the AMA event (my first ever attendance at a bike race) and I have to say...
What a beautiful race track! Wow!
Anyway, the drive was easy to Bing'm and I would really love to drive that track one day. Maybe we can talk with Trussville Mazda about helping to get us inthere for a track day. I say an ad from a local bike shop (Bogart Ducatti) that they have a track day next weekend for bikes. 75 slots total in 3 groups. $190 each for a full day of racing. A little more than Road Atlanta, but I would pay it. Hopefully there is something we could do on this scale through Trussville, NASA or whatever...

I've heard the same thing too. If you wrech your, you not only have to pay thousands (or tens of) to fix it, but Barber also gives to a bill for the landscaping and guard railing you've damaged.
Barber just puts salt on the wound and digs it's finger into it.

I run my motorcycle at Barber. I wish we could run our cars there, but I cant even imagine how much that would cost. I know the Porche Driving school is based there and they tear up the pavement in a few places. A few spots have been repaved but you still get some wicked head shake from the bumpy pavement on a motorcycle. Don't get me wrong, I would jump at a chance to put my 8 on Barber, but the motorcycle part of me would rather it stay predominantly 2 wheels. As for Barber being ****...when you are there for motorcycle days, the make you put wooden squares under your EZ Up Tents so they dont damage the precious pit area. It is a world class track and they make sure you know it.
