Its funny you should ask about those two items. i just got the both of them a few days ago and haven't really had to use it yet. I got ScratchX 2.0 cuase I also heard good things.

Once I try both of these products I'll let you know, once it stops raining so much in Jersey i can go out there and really clean and detail the car.

I have a big day planned tomorrow, and stocked up on all the supplies today. First time waxing a car, so I have decided to do my gf's civic as a surprise to her, before I touch me baby . Here is what I plan to do (I'll post pics):

Wash Car
Clay Bar
Step 2 deep crystal polish
step 3 deep crystal wax
NXT 2.0 wax

I have a couple questions:

Do I have to wash the car with Dawn if it has no previous wax on it or will any regular car soap be fine?

I also purchased the deep crystal (step 1) paint cleaner, do I really need that if I am going to clay bar?

I have read some people use the NXT as more of a sealant than wax. Would you recommend doing step 3 (carnuba wax) and layering NXT on top, or just use the NXT wax on top?

Thanks.

^do not use dawn! you have no wax on it

you dont need it, but hey, why not go the extra step

i us the 2.0 as my last step

this is my list

wash the car twice
clay bar once with megs quick detailer
clay bar again with megs ultimate quick detailer
scratch X\swirl X\cleaner wax
a couple of layers of megs 2.0

Can anyone video tape how they are using the clay bar? I think I'm doing it wrong.
Here's what I did:

1. I washed/dried my car.
2. I used quik detailer, wiped it off and let it dry.
3. Then I use quick detailer and then the clay bar but I get some clay bar marks on the paint. Does this happen to you too?? I had to rub it off with quik detailer again to remove the parts.

What do you use to wax? Do you use a buff machine or do you do it by hand? I did it by hand but it doesn't look evenly spread...=(

you gotta spray the clay bar and the car with quick detailer do small sections at a time ... you have to wipe off the residue when your finished with a section ... be very careful coz the bare clay can damage your clear coat (what ive heard dont know for sure)

The NXT is a polymer and better as a sealant. For longer lasting protection always apply the wax coating at the end. I personaly prefer Natty's Blue.

hmmmmm i think leesha made a small video on claying. you can even hear the difference in sound when her hand went over it.

anyways, when you clay your car, you just have to keep the spot lubricated with some kinda liquid. dont go over the paint with out lube, or else you bar will go nowhere...just do sections at a time, spray, clay, and wipe off ...its really simple

glad to see im not the only doing it, clayin with the UQD REALLY makes it feel like velvet and smoother than a babies bottom, i love it...i tell people to do it, but some cheap out, cus they already spent money on the kit with the quick detailer...i just buy the big blue clay from megs, and a bottle of UQD and im set, i usually have a bottle of QD layin around, i dont use that stuff as much as the UQD...good ****

I got the shaft with my cleaning....

So I went
Meguirs Gold Soap wash
Dry
Meguiars swirly remover
NXT 2.0

Amazed how many small paint chips my car has.

I guess it looked good. then it rain like an hour later. stupid weather people. I chose my day because the weather said no rain for that day (I checked in the morning before I did it)

I finish, take a nap for a hour, get up total down pours. Went on for about an hour.
