I have some automotive window cleaner, I don't know what brand. I also use Windex. Rain-x goes on the outside after the glass is clean, it's not a good cleaner although I have applied it to a not-so-clean windshield. I don't use anything except cleaner on the inside - my defroster works quite well.

I used regular ScotchGuard on my cloth seats and carpets. I haven't had any spills to test the effectiveness (so far).

I assume you're talking about car seat *covers*. I doubt you'll find one with the rotary cutout. You should also be cautious not to cover the airbag in the side of the seats.

Yeah...the side airbag is a prob for seat covers. I just want to take care of my baby so I'll scotch guard it but the seat covers are a problem. I wanted seat covers just as an added messure of protection.

If anyone out there has any tips on Scotchguarding....I would love to hear the do's and dont's

I know it's not safe at all, but I actually have seat covers on my front seats. Crossing my fingers that I don't get into a side-impact collision. The Mazda seat covers are just WAY too expensive for what they are, IMO.

ScotchGuard, though, huh? Does it just help for stains, etc.? I'm probably more worried about wearing out the cloth since it's a bear just getting into the car. I'd consider getting rid of the unsafe seat covers and using ScotchGuard if it helped with the cloth's durability.

Scotchgaurd brand Fabric Gaurd 6.99 Carpet Gaurd 7.97 <----prices at my local Lowes....just apply as directed, try not to get on plastics or leather.....but just wipe off immediately if you do....lasts 6 months at least during normal wear...but this is not foolproof...dont toss a soda in the back and expect it to be beading off the uphosltry 2 weeks later....it helps...if you spill you are able to wipe it up before it soaks in....
Application takes about 10 minutes and about 1/2 hour to an hour to fully dry...regardless of what the can says...

Some people (like me) prefer carnauba over sealants like zaino, klasse, etc... because most sealants lack the depth and richness carnauba gives. I used to use zaino before and i've been very happy with it but after using carnauba wax like souveran and s100 i prefered that soft look of carnauba than the zaino shine. If you want bright shine and reflectivity, choose zaino or klasse. If you want that deep shine and wetness, choose carnauba based wax.

A new question, what sun visor (the thing you put on your front windshield to protect the dash from the sun and keep your car cooler) do you guys/gals use? The one I have does not cover like I want it to and I would like one that did a better job. I want to take care of my baby and I don't want the sun to eat away at my interior.

wannahave...I sure understand this one living in Singapore. I don't like using sun visors (too much of a hassle) so I've applied V-kool tint all around. The front tint is less dark than the back due to Sing tinting rules, but if you get a quality tint in the front then you'll have a much cooler ride. The V-kool tint eliminates most of the IR and UV rays so not only protects your interior but dissipates heat incredibly well. Highly recommended

Humm, but the thing is I can't tint the front windshield in Florida...it's agains the law. Maybe if they made a clear one that would offer me the protection it would be "cool", LOL. But, I still would use a sun-visor thingy and I just need one that fits the RX8 better than the one I have.

Funny, I have a car-sized one, and it work just fine. If you find yours to be too small, they make sun visors in SUV/truck size as well. You may give those a shot for better coverage (assuming you're talking about the ones that fold up accordion style and not the ones that twist into smaller size).

Yeah, I got the ones that close into a small circle. It covers pretty well but seems to fight it out with my rear view mirror sometimes. Now, my wife wants it back and wants to give me my older one back (same type but it comes in two panels)...LOL, so I guess I might have to go shoping..LOL

In answer to your questions: I use 303 High-Tech Fabric Guard and I bought an RX-8 sunshield from Rosenthal Mazda for $31.20-- pretty pricey for a sunshield I know, but oh well.

Yeah, those reflectors that close into a small circle don't cover the entire windshield. The ones that fold up accordion-style do a much better job of deflecting more sunlight. You might want to give them a shot. They're generally thicker and more reflective and, as a result, do a better job of keeping heat out of the car.
