Looks like paint pitting

Would pitting in the paint be covered under the warranty?

I was just detailing my car for the first time and noticed some blemishes on the trunk. Tried to gently wash them off, but it didn't work.

On closer inspection, it looks like there are pits in the paint. I noticed some scratch marks (in the wax, I hope) where it looks like someone else tried to get them out a bit too vigourously.

Is it covered under warranty? If not, what can I do to correct them?

Thanks.

The paint is definitely not covered under warranty. What a dream that would be if it was!

That being said, if you can prove to your service manager that the dealership is the one that caused all the scratches, they may be able to buff them out for you. Otherwise, use a PC and some SMR or rubbing compound to get the scratches out.

Olds, are you referring to an orange peel type of texture in the paint? Or are these a few distinct divits in the paint that don't appear anywhere else on your 8?

Dealer screwed up paint!

I've been there, and had some results. The dealership put swirls all over my car, and refused to fix them. At the same time I had some deep stains on the trunk, they agreed to fix these. Ask nicely!

The latter - small, individual holes. At first I thought they were specks of dirt or water spots. When they didn't come out, I took a closer look, and that's when I noticed someone had scratched around them in an apparent attempt to get them off.
Paint is black, and the bottom of these marks is a dark gray.
