The question was because I wasn't aware of the difference in size. I saw the original, but I never looked at the new one. Now I'm curious.

Adding 12.9 gallons of fuel to get the curb weight gives just about 2960 pounds, which is what has been reported up top. Is our weight with or without the new heavier battery?

fyi, tirerack.com's spec sheet on the re040 says the 225/45/18 weighs 28 lbs. not 26.

per Bridgestone's website, they say 26lb, and since they make the tire I thought they would be the best source.

i see your point, but i'd trust tirerack's data over a manufacturer's tire data. the tirerack's in a position to verify such data and manufacturers often embellish a bit. i guess we need someone to put a re040 on a digital scale.

it might also be a good idea to list the source of the weight data you supply for better transparency.

My RE040's are sitting in garbage bags under my deck waiting for spring (I couldn't afford both the snows AND new wheels for them in one shot). If I remember it I'll weigh one this weekend.
