OE front shock assembly, completely assembled with OE spring, mount, etc. - 11 lbs each

OE cloth manual Base passenger seat with OE slider & mounting frame, airbag, etc. - 37.5 lbs

I was hoping it would weigh more, but it is what it is ...

OT: Taka weighs 89.5kg today (from 96kg 2 months ago).

On topic:

My stock wheel weighs 10.0kg.

I can weigh the wheel with semi slick (Bridgestone RE55S) for you later.

This is a very good thread

Quick question- do cf hoods provide any function other than looking cool and being slightly lighter than the stock hood? I'm just curious as to why people always see this as some sort of performance upgrade.

^^ to some hoods, yes.

Ours? Not really. Since like you said, our hood already "light enough".

So yes, most people buy it just for "looks"
(they can still say its "performance upgrade by saving tham a pound or 2 ..." well ... ok ...)

i have a 6spd which i believe has no options. iirc, all 6spd models in america come w/ the 18s and the appearance package...is this correct? is the listed 2960lb base weight for my model?

thanks!

My 6spd did not come with the appearance package. The base model 6spd had no extra options at all, either mechanical or body.

I see that

"Stock Cat & Midpipe - 23.2lbs"

and

"RX8 Store Cat - 11.31lbs"

so, how much does the midpipe weigh or does the RX8 Store cat include it?

https://www.rx8club.com/showpost.php...47&postcount=4

That's for the resonated/catless midpipe from rx8store, so the one with no cat AND no resonator should be a pound or two lighter.

Okay, so the RX8Store cat is really catless? Is that right? And it includes the midpipe?

No.

RX8store has 3 midpipes, one with a catalytic converter, one with a resonator, and one that is straight pipe only. All of this is on their site.

The post I linked to is me telling the weight of the RESONATED midpipe.

The rx8store midpipes are all single piece units. The catalytic converter and resonator ones have those pieces welded into the midpipe, all 1 piece. So the weights quoted are the cat/pipe all together.

Okay, thank you for the clarification. I wonder what the RX8 Store midpipe with the catalytic converter weighs and if it buys anything in terms of weight savings?

Isn't that the weight you quoted in your first post in this thread?

It weighs 11.31 lbs according to what you found right there...

Minimum/Maximum weight reduction-Street/competition

I am wondering how much the car's weight could be reduced. Suppose we establish just two categories:

1) "Street": How much weight can be reduced with the car still looking more or less normal? How much additional weight loss in "Street" mode if we remove back seets? (And is is hard or easy to do?)

2) "Competition": I f we were going all-out for performance and willing to sacrifice appearance and convenience, how much weight could be lost?

This looks like the right forum for this question. I would like to lose 200-300 pounds if possible--an alternative to adding mods to increase power. Help, please?

Thanks,
Rotorhead335

How much more does the Grand Touring package weight than the base model?

My research shows the Grand Touring weighs right about 3000 pounds with a half tank and the Base is maybe 2900 with a half-tank? Maybe a little less?

So about 100 pounds sound right? I guess I can live with that. Not worth trading down to a sport over that (I'm really getting hooked on autocross).

Now if I could just get a little more headroom....

Lessee - 2 leather power seats will be ~35 pounds more. Now if you can determine the weight delta for the sunroof that should do it.
