Here's a nice video of today's event. Finished 1st in STX and only. 5 seconds behind O'Malley

I did a WDCR event this past Sunday, running against Willemin and Finlay co-driving Willemin's WRX. Willemin was fresh off his STX win at the DC Pro and recently switched to some new AD08's (shaved). We were back on the large E/F lot, but since a large portion of this lot was re-sealed earlier this year, the newly resurfaced areas were still low on grip compared to the more weathered parts of the lot. The course was highly transitional with a long slalom and a very fast wallom. I ended up winning the class by just over 1.4 seconds.
Finished 10th in PAX for the event with Junior Johnson taking top PAX, with Ian Baker finishing 2nd.

Ran at the Texas Region SCCA event at Texas Motor Speedway last weekend. Saw Team's car there but didn't get a chance to introduce myself since I had to leave after 1st heat. We finished 1-2 in class and 6th & 8th in the PAX. Wondered why Team didn't sign up to run STX, apparently he was running in X class. Good thing - he would have taken a whipping in STX.
ust messing with you Mark. I did see your car in the paddock and noticed you still had the Yoks on it. I thought you were going to try a set of the 'Kooks?
J-Fo was out of town this past weekend, so Jon W. stepped out of the C6 Z06 and co-drove my car for the event. We finished 1-2 in STX and 6th & 8th overall in the PAX. Hoping I can get a hall pass for the SW Divisional at the end of the month, but a 2-month old son may put a damper on that.
My fastest run - 52.843 seconds
Jon's fastest run - 53.033 seconds

I ran the X-Pro class because I spent the night locked in the storage yard when the gate locked at 11:00 PM and I didn't finish putting the car together until 1AM per my previous post. Since X-Pro worked 2 and ran 3 it allowed me to go take a shower during heat 1 when STX ran.
You whipped me pretty good if you want to count out all 5 runs, but only the first 3 count in Pro or major events. We weren't that far apart on that basis. Note that I beat you both on the first half of the course split regardless on the amount of runs and you both beat me on the second half split, moreso on the 4th and 5th runs. If you go back to my previous post on the event I noted that the car was working well out of the box in the non-transitional areas which comprised the majority of the first split section and not so well in the transitions which comprised the majority of the second half split.
So yeah you beat me overall on a new untested setup. Not sure how much the difference between when we ran made either. Course surface grip and engine power between the cooler morning and frying afternoon temps likely had some influence. We'll see how that pans out as I start dialing in the shocks and change to the Hankook tires.
Regardless of winning or losing, I was happy to have finally resolving my overall setup issue and start heading in a positive direction.

Mark, I was just teasing. Sorry to hear you got locked in the storage facility - that sounds like a crappy evening!
I'm still looking forward to an opportunity to run heads up against you.

Yeah, I was totally POd since the other side where I keep my personal stuff will let you out after hours but now I know the RV side where I keep the car/trailer won't
Your car/driving certainly exceeded me at this event, can't deny that

7/6/10 - COBB Tuning AccessPORT Product Line Consolidation
COBB Tuning is announcing a restructuring of the AccessPORT product line in order to better align our internal resources with our core markets. Effective immediately, COBB Tuning is discontinuing development of AccessPORTs for naturally aspirated vehicles including: Honda Civic Si, Infiniti G35 & G37, Mazda RX-8, Nissan 350Z & 370Z and Subaru 2.5i & 2.5RS. This refocus of resources and efforts will ensure that COBB Tuning can provide the high level of service each individual AccessPORT platform requires going forward.
This means that AccessPORT firmware, AccessTUNER (Pro and Race) software and Off-The-Shelf calibrations for the above vehicles have reached their final level of development and customers may continue to use them in their current form. AccessPORTs for these applications will remain available for purchase for the next 30 days. AccessPORT hardware will remain under warranty 1 year from the date of purchase and repair services will remain available should your AccessPORT require service. Off-The-Shelf maps and AccessTUNER software will remain available for download from the COBB Tuning website at their current version levels.
At COBB Tuning, we are committed to our customers' satisfaction with our products. In light of this change of product support, we are extending our AccessPORT Satisfaction Guarantee to 90-days from the date of purchase for discontinued platforms. Please click on this link to learn more about our AccessPORT Satisfaction Guarantee.
If you have any questions or concerns regarding this announcement, or you wish to learn more about COBB Tuning products, please contact one of our Customer Service agents at 801.713.0035 or support@cobbtuning.com.

This news is 10 days old now, but since I hadn't seen anything posted in this thread yet, I just wanted to be sure no one missed this.

Im new to STX as I just reclassed this past weekend. I got smoked by a Mini S and a WRX both on R-compounds by about 2.5secs. I have less than 10% tread on rear, but jus went for fun. Sounds like you guys dominate STX where yall are racing. Hopefully I can get some more mods and catch up soon.

Very interesting weekend...
Well I competed in the 2-day CommonWealth Games in Danville, VA this weekend and ran against the stiffest competition I've ever faced this season. Chris Cline ran his BMW over both days while Eric Sienkiewicz came up and ran Sunday only.
On Saturday, the weather was a mix of pouring rain and sunshine, and by the time STX ran in the final heat, we had a course that was wet but drying slowly in the late afternoon sun. I'd never driven my car in the wet before, and had to guesstimate at what might work. I softened my shocks, took some psi out of my tires and disconnected my rear swaybar. This proved to be a decent starting point, but I was also on RS-3's which aren't the greatest in the wet (as they need heat to work).
Cline absolutely dominated everyone on Saturday. His Star Specs worked well in the wet and he just plain out drove us all. Cline lead the class with a 54.5, while a well-driven turbo Mini was in 2nd with a 57.0 and I was less than 4/100ths back with a 57.1 (I had a dirty 55.9 +3)
SATURDAY: http://www.brr-scca.org/Results/20100717.htm
Conditions on Sunday stayed consistent throughout the day with temps in the low 90's and sunny for all run groups. Enter Eric into the class. Eric's first run in Cline's BMW ended up being the fastest raw time by a fendered car for the day -- a 51.6+1. Eric would stay dirty all day, and finished behind Cline who turned a clean 53.1 on his 2nd run. The solid driver in the turbo mini turned a clean 53.8, while I drove my *** off to a clean 54.0.

SUNDAY: http://www.brr-scca.org/Results/20100718.htm
As a side note, the Cline/Sienkiewicz BMW broke on Cline's 3rd run when a radiator fan disintegrated and chewed a hole through the radiator. As a result, I offered Eric my car to do his final 2 runs. His fastest run in the RX-8 was a 52.9 (+3). Eric offered me a few random comments about my car:
1) He loved my suspension set-up and the car's overall balance at the limit.
2) The brakes on the RX-8 are phenomenal. He mentioned when doing additional upgrades to my car, I should focus my attention on the brakes last of all.
3) The RX-8 is wider than the E36...
Eric was a little more than 2 seconds faster than me on Sunday (his fastest raw in the BMW vs my fastest time), and over 1 second faster than me in my own RX-8. Eric showed me there's another 1 second or so left in the driver (no surprise there), but also that I have another 1 second or so left in the development of my set-up.
Once I add racing seats, a lightweight battery and more power/torque from engine tuning, how much time could I drop? The driver thing will continue to be a work-in-progress. I definitely learned a bunch this weekend...

P.S. Btw, for those not familiar with the name Eric Sienkiewicz, check out the results from the 2010 Dixie NT where he ran against the current STX National Champion Bryce Meredith! If he finishes outside of the top 5 at Nats, I'll be shocked!

^Nice post, Chike. I wouldn't be surprised if Eric could close the gap between your car and his with a few more runs.
Having said that, would a fully prepped & optimized RX-8 be 1 sec faster than your car? That's an interesting question. I've done a few more mods than you, but it's really hard to say (for me) what they add up to. Lincoln will be fun.
I've been experimenting with the wing. It certainly adds grip to the rear. With only two weekends on the wing, I'm still sorting out how to take advantage of that grip, but I think I'm getting the hang of it. Got some aero-tuning tips from the A-Mod Phantom guys last weekend. That was cool.
Next events are the Packwood Pro & NT. Karl is running the WRX at the Pro, but we are co-driving the RX-8 at the NT.

Thanks George. Agreed, on Eric being faster with more seat time in my car. With that said, my car definitely needs to be built further for the class which I'll be doing steadily over the coming seasons...
I'm going back to school part-time, so my budget to play will be even more limited but I'll get stuff gradually as money allows.
GL at the Packwood events. Are you still on the Bridgestones?

The BMWs are going to be tough, but we intend will show that my car can perform well in the right hands. Just pray for no rain.
