Note that these parts/numbers are different for the RX-8. Use the above az a general guideline only. You may need a filter smaller in diameter than the AEM one.

here are the completed pics of my midpipe. The welder said the davesport cat was a tad bigger than 3" but other than that no complaints from him. I'll have to get a exact weight of it when I get it in my hands. I should have it next week sometime.

That's the whole intake thing everyone was talking about. Thank you for the reference. Seems very simple to turn my car into a STX car.

 

Starting with a 3" inlet size on the MX-5 while the RX-8 is 3.5"

 

Yeah, when I bought mine, Dave told me it was something like 3.1" ID so I would need to get the pipe flared to fit. Upon receiving it, I measured it at closer to 3.25". I haven't gotten around to welding it yet, but I've been looking for a short piece of 3.25" x 0.120" tubing that I can slip on to transition. However, it looks like your welder just filled the gap. I guess I'll see what it looks like when I cut it apart. Yours looks great though!

My welder also had no problem making the transition. He never even brough it up as an issue.

 

Getting mine welded together on Monday, will have pics up when completed.

Curious as to the sound of this setup. It is exactly what I was planning, but have not completed yet. My dilemma is the resonator, as I have not purchased one yet.

Worked on my car today. New spark plugs and a BHR ignition kit are now installed.



Need to get my mid-pipe finished up next weekend and a few other adjustments and I'll be ready to roll!

 

I don't want a life, I just want to lay around all day Saturday catching up on my sleep and then race all day Sunday

just wrapped another 10 hour stint, it is getting closer ...
