Weight doesn't hurt. How much money do people spend to save 2 lbs per wheel?

If I have the Star Specs as dd and rain, and try the RS-3 to try in the dry, why not?

The weight savings is definitely a nice "added bonus" with the RS-3's...

uhh, yeah... Stagger of that type isn't to fix handling, but to improve acceleration. (gearing)

The bimmers actually need to slow down for the corners, so speeding up again can be important.

We need to slow down too, it's just that our brakes are so good, we tend not to notice.

I know the E36 chassis well. All the right parts are out there to balance the handling properly. Tires are expensive consumables to address it otherwise.
It wasn't to "fix" any handling problems, just to maximize available grip in the rear with a little more rubber width. I'll stick to a "square" setup for now, though.

First event of the season today went great. First run group of the day so it was still around 43 degrees out, warmed up to 60 by the end of the second group.

The lighter rotors and big brake kit made a significant change. The car felt quicker and would rev faster. I could get on the brakes as late as I wanted to and they just kept asking for more.(I'm running ET800 pads) The star specs had an amazing amount of grip and when they let go, they were easy to control and had a pretty linear breakaway.

I finished 1st in STX and PAX'ed 19th out of 154 drivers.

You drove very well yesterday and the car looked good out on course. It was an excellent course with excellent weather. If only I could have driven excellent as well. But I guess you have to shake the rust from winter off at some point.

Keith, you were in the S2000 with the rear gold wheel right? You were fast out there man.

I was working at the last slalom and you scared me a few times coming through there, you came in flying!

That was me, thanks for the compliment. My fastest run got thrown away due to a timing error and I coned my re-run. What sucked the most was it was one of those runs that felt about as close to perfect as you can hope to manage. I am sure it would have matched Jadrice's time but that is the name of the game.

One thing I did notice about your 8 was that is seemed the side skirts were rubbing in some of the sweepers as I was working the course when you ran.

Edit: Here was my video of my fastest official scratch time: CCR SCCA Z-Max My co-driver's video is after mine. She was having some issues with not being aggressive enough with the car in many points.

Good ol' Jay! Glad to see he lost little speed over the winter break.

Not surprised to hear that. I considered the MS body kit at one point, but nixed the idea after seeing how low it was on an RX-8 at stock ride height. On a lowered car, it must be a nightmare!

TopGear, what coilovers are you on again?

Best of luck down there! Should be a very competitive class as Bryce and his dad are signed up.

Is anyone else going from the NC area - Chris Cline???

Cool. I also saw that Feinburg and Spratte are registered now. Looks like there'll be a pretty solid showing.

Nice job Keith. Looking back, I should have short shifted into third at the return transition like you did. On the rev regurgitator way too long.

My best was a 76.055. 9th in PAX.

New Hoosiers arrive this week . . . looking forward to seeing how I stack up against the Thompson family at Dixie

Sorry to hear you won't be here in time to make the Tour, Mark. Hopefully I'll catch up to you at some local events later in the year. Whereabouts in DFW are you moving to?
