I rode with Ron on his fastest run. What a hoot.
I sure liked the driving the ASP Exige though. I fell in love with that car.
What did you think of the course design?
It met all the SCCA rules. ZO6's weren't even near the revlimiter.
What time did you get in your car? Near Ron's AM time in the Subaru?(results aren't up yet)

I was no where near Ron and Karl on that course I was losing time in the C-Box and the 2nd turn around for sure but that course proved to me once and for all that I need a Camera (ordered one yesterday ). I ran a 53.4 dirty, both of them hit high 49's clean. Someone got that Exige down to a 47... was that you? Seeing Jodie in the GTR was a hoot too. She ran a high 49 on her second run but I think it was dirty.
Overall that course was tough. My gap to Karl and Ron has been closer to 2 seconds recently but both courses this weekend were downright weird. Saturday was Duff's design and I was closer to them. Sunday was Steve Downing and watching him drive it, you could see why. I think he braked for the C-Box and the Turn arounds and that was it.
Running in PAX was definitely silly on Sunday. I wasn't really sure who else was in it but I knew it meant I could run on the BS index. What I should've done was run Street Tire. I'd have been on the BSP index, but I would've placed decently if I could've run that 53.4 clean and during a scored run... I think my best scored run was a second or so worse. I found a lot of time in the transitions on the front half of the runway in the afternoon.

Yea..That was me in the Exige. Car owner also got in the 47's clean.
Kevin and I helped set up the course with Steve.
The course REALLY rewarded you if you were on line and charging and we were all giggly over it.
Both slaloms were truly optional.
You REALLY had to think ahead and there were plenty of "fly traps" that cost you HUGE amounts of time if you got suckered into them. NEVER EVER fall into a fly trap before a long fast acceleration section.
Sunday 53.4 is a good time against our low 51's in the Cobalt and STX Subaru. 49's in a ASP car was not fast enough on Sunday.
I would like to drive your car sometime. Lots of people seem to be switching or talking of switching to STX RX8's especiall with the 370Z coming on line.

That Exige is incredible. The very first event I went to in Packwood they were there, exhaust and super charger whine echoing off the buildings and mountains.... yah, it definitely affirmed an Exige S240 as my attainable dream car.

Doing my first event in STX this weekend. Not really prepped yet, just konis, sways and 17" Ster Specs. Signed up for the group buy for the Progress springs, but that does not seem to be going very well.
Can anyone tell me what kind of pressure 255/40 17 Star Specs like?

Are you planning on doing either of the WWSCC events this weekend? The one Saturday is tempting... but I'm not sure.

In our 328is, we ran 34-35 all around, depending upon the temperature outside and conditions. They have a stiff wall so you should be able to keep the pressures down a bit.

So I've been poking around through the first few pages of the thread again and thinking about wheels. I'm on 17x9 RPF1's now but honestly, the gap between the calipers and the inner edge of the rim is a real hassle. It hampers wheel balancing as the weights need to be perfectly flush against the spokes and I got a rock in there yesterday. It scratched up the inside of one of the rims. I caught it right away since I had my windows down so it's a lot better than it could've been but that put me over the edge, I want new wheels.
Unfortunately... the damned RPF1's were/are such a good deal. 17x9, 15.9lbs, $250/wheel so I'm having a real hard time rationalizing paying $400/wheel for another what, 1lb max off? I'm not going to feel that, certainly not at my current skill level. Hopefully I can find something that looks a bit better (I'm partial to the Volk CE28N's) but even through one of our kick *** vendors I'm looking at $2300 for 4. Any suggestions?

I've been checking NASIOC but hadn't thought to check the EVO boards. I know we can run the same wheels as IS300's too, do they have a big centralized club somewhere?

Forgive me for not being a full time racer, but I still daily drive on these wheels I may have to compete against the likes of Ron Bauer and Karl Coleman, but that doesn't mean I actually do
Given where the clearance issue occurs, I'm not sure how much a spacer would help. It would need to be pretty big. The point on the rim that is closet to the caliper is a good inch away from the outside of the Caliper.

If you think because you had a tire balanced it still is, you are in for a surprise.

I daily drive mine as well. Do you shave your tires? Once you have seen a set spun up on a machine you will see why balancing is a waste of time. Or have you ever spun? Check your balance after an event. The other cool thing is how a tire will turn on a wheel under heavy braking. On cars with power you can turn them under acceleration as well - this of course does not apply to the RX-8.

I did not shave my tires and I'm glad I didn't. In the space of the tread I would've shaved off, I got so much faster on my own accord that now that the season is over, I've naturally worn the tires down to the wear bumps, maybe 2/32 left.
Shaun: I'll give you first dibs I'm really wavering on whether or not to go through with it... It's a lot of money that could go to race seats now instead of in the Spring.

Anyone on here have problems with their power steering over time from "aggressive autocrossing" ? Mine was flakey this morning, but by the end of the event was just done for. :/ Not sure what or why...but talk about annoying. Does anyone else have anymore events? Today was my last event for the year. Finished 2nd in this club, not sure yet about SCCA..waiting to hear results.
