My advice: If you are new to autocross, there are much better places to invest your time and money than chasing a couple of horsepower (unless your stock cat is clogged; that's a different situation).

I wasnt doing the exhaust for autox reasons, more for sound, i just wanted a cat that would hold up to the rotary temps. i have no emissions where i live so thats not an issue either. I just wanted a good cat replacement with a good performance piece that will hold up.

It's custom with an HJS cat. I can't comment on other commonly available midpipes, but I have been happy with the HJS. Good luck in STX this year.

the SSRs are lighter, but I had to pay a premium price for them

if I were to part with a set it would have to involve a trade, and then I'm still on the fence about letting anything go since they were all intended for me pursuing DSP or SM myself

As has been said already, great work in DSP Mike! I have plans to run a few events in DSP this year too, and I already have a stack of 285/30/18 R1-S's sitting at home. Your result is very encouraging.
I'm also looking for wheels and was considering the D-Force LTW5 from Vorshlag and the Forgestar F14, both in 18x10+42. They seem to be the cheapest options while still being fairly light.

Looks like the stock class is completely changing.
Street Category Proposal Explained « SoloMatters
Stock is going to become a street class which changes the allowance to be more accommodating for modern cars.
The biggest change is that tires will be street tires at 140 Tread wear in 2014 and 200 in 2015. Other changes include allowing additional camber, rear sway bars as well as the front, disabling traction control and a few other changes.

The Enkei 17/18x10 +38 RPF1 is your best common bet for price & weight, but it may have a clearance issue with an aftermarket caliper/brake kit
hwoever, DSP and Street Category commentary should be posted in their respective threads rather than in this STX thread ...

FTD run from yesterday. The first half of the course is old pavement with very low traction, then the 2nd half (after the right hander), is new and high grip. Makes for an interesting challenge.

13 STX
How is everyone? I have been browsing through this thread and thought I would finally post. I got my 05 back in July of last year with 39k miles and only had time for a few events late last season. Driving it completely stock with not the best tires either still made me want more of it. These cars handle great! Anyways, I've put about 8k miles since getting it and have loved every second, well, that is until it scares me with an engine code when it feels like it. I planned to step up my game this season and start getting serious in STX. My previous seasons I raced a stock 91 Miata and a 08 WRX, so finally getting back to my RWD and a little more pep than a Miata was instant love. Here are a few pictures and some info.
First day with Roxy.
Bought a used set of RS3's that will probably only last a few events, this is my first set of tires besides all season so I wanted to try them out. Hell, for $200 I couldn't pass them up. Bought a set of 17x9's too for them, the Cobra R's were not was I was looking for, but again I bought them for $200 also so I only have $400 in autocross wheels/tires to test out.
Alignment didn't go to well due to my front lower control arm bushings/bolts being seized up. Only got the rear adjusted, awaiting 2 FLCAs to be able to finish the alignment. You can tell by the reverse rake, lol. Hoping that I get them before Saturday so I can get them installed and the car re-aligned for Sunday's start of my local regions autocross.
Keeping it stock other than the wheels/tires for most of the season. Planning to add an ignition kit and exhaust (header, high flow cat so I can be legal for the class, and cat-back). Other then those I'll order a fresh set of tires later down the road. Any tips/pointers would be appreciated!
