The 710's are the better tire for the money. You get more runs out of them for a little less money. Some say that they are just as quick as the Hoosiers, I will be testing that theory myself since I can't get any 710's now.

BTW, for anyone looking, good luck finding a set of Rota P1's. It seems that the universe is out of them. Jimmy at Fuji Racing told me he had 2 sets left in our bore but I can't reach him now. Please Jimmy, if you are out there, send me a set.

There's plenty of evidence to support the idea that the A6 is as fast, or faster, than the V710...the only thing is, Jason has laid it down every year, when he needed to, keeping the V710 at the top of Nationals.

Maybe Chris H. will chime in on the wear issue...I understand, with care, attention and higher pressures, the big HoHo's can be made to last quite a few more runs than most believe...

This is what Harvey mentioned in the Kumho Tires out of Stock thread:

My current set of 285's just passed the 90 run mark last weekend. Mix of grippy asphalt and concrete (Peru) surfaces. The keys to longevity (like any Hoosier):

#1- Run plenty of air (40 psi+)
#2- Keep'em cool.
#3 - Rotate front to rear often (Every 6 to 8 runs for us)
#4- Flip'em on the wheels at 35-40 runs
#5- Most importantly, don't overdrive the natural understeer of the RX8, you will just overheat and grind the edge of the tire off.

More maintance than a V710 for sure, but you can get a decent amount of runs out of them if your diligent.

From a wear standpoint, the V710 285/30-18's I've used since last Oct. are the best I've had yet. They are now at 139 runs and 14 heat cycles, with at least one if not both drivers not always the smoothest drivers on the planet.

I've run them this long because I can't find someone local to mount me up another set - though it has taught me that they can still be competitive beyond the 70-80 runs that I used to replace them at.

Sorry, you are a day late. I just ordered a set from Fuji yesterday. Thanks, though.
