at 9k rpms you make 170whp, shifting to second you land in 6k rpms and only making 140whp... if you shift at 8.5k you land lower.
Besides, we're not even talking about hp, we're talking about where/when to shift in the upper rpm range. Oh yeah like kersh4w said, most of us here are seeing higher numbers in the 8-9k rpm range...hell, I pulled a 182whp on fouled plugs and bad coils...

Shifting over 9k in the first three gears puts you in the best spot in the power band. For 4th gear and the rest, around 8.5 is the better shift point.

Read post #10. I clarified my statement further.

And, thanks Kersh.

Something I prepared earlier - you can see the lowest rpm between shifts is 6000 in 2nd

For comparison here is a turbo shifting 700-800 rpm earlier

And same turbo shifting over 2000 rpm earlier

yes, I was trying to explain how to figure out best shift point - base it on power curve, has nothing to do with peak power ... as some who replied had no idea what they were talking about

I8U - your power curve + your gear chart with mph/rpms for each gear is the best/easiest way to figure out shift points
