actually you're still wrong, I find the best way to launch on a start with an immediate 90 deg turn is to launch hard enough to get the tires spinning as I turn the steering wheel, as the car rotates through the turn pause the throttle just a hair and then nailing it will hook up the tires just enough to rocket on down the course as pretty as you please ...

on high grip concrete with DOT-R tires, yes

I launch at 5500 on asphalt with the Advan Neovas and minimal wheelspin

it's not what you launch at, it's how you manage the throttle immediately following ...

Ain't that the truth.
How many trannies are you on (I'm not being facetious). Is this the second or the third? How about the diff?

I usually dump around 6200 or so and then modulate the throttle to keep the wheels just above the "grabbing point" until the two meet at 3500 RPM or more.
I'm still on my first tranny and diff, so I'm wondering why some have lost one or both with such "drag" type starts.

3rd, but the issue has been blowing out 2nd gear on the 1-2 upshift, never on the launch

I take it, in your racing class a tranny swap is a no-starter?

Are you buying those out of pocket or has Mazda foot the bill? I'm still on my first and plan to keep it that way but it appears we have a similar theory on the start so I'm just curious.
