I now this setup is less than optimal, but I got a great deal on a set of 17x8+45 SSR TypeC wheels and I'm looking for a set of tires to go with them. These will be mainly used for Autocross but I will likely be running them on the street as well.

I'm pretty much decided on the RS3 and I would like to run 245/45 but they don't make that size... they only make a few sizes, and the two that would fit would be either 255/40 or 225/50. I know that 255 is pushing it on an 8" rim though not sure that 225 is worth running for AutoX.

As a sidenote, would a 255 wide rub on a 8"+45? Not worried about the fender, more about the control arm.

 

Pretty sure people have run wider than 255 on 18x8+50, so you should be fine.
