Thats because they cut it short for TV. At the very start of the coverage they said it will be a 2 1/2 hour race but it was only on TV for 2 hours( with pre and post race interviews and commercials).

Is the SpeedSource RX-8 a completely different car than stock cars including the chassis? I ask this because it looks like they run the tires in a staggered setup. Perhaps there weight ratio is very different than stock. I think I heard a commentator say the car was about 2200lbs.
The car is a dedicated tube framed race car...the only thing that is RX-8ish is the body that was modeled from a stock car. It is made from composites......
It uses a 20B race engine NA.....
Looks great though

I'm watching a recording of it for the first time now.
There is so much talk abou the weight differences of these cars. Since they are constructed relatively the same way it seem logical to me the biggest weight difference comes from the engine and maybe the transmission? But there must be more to it. The Porsches are 500 lbs heavier than the RX-8. The chassis must be stock, no?
I was cranking up the sound and listening closely on their first pit-stop. What an awesome blub-blub idle sound from the 3-rotor.
For anyone else wanting to download the race the torrent can be found here:

I missed the Laguna Race, forgot I had set the DVR to record it, then unplugged the entertainment center while I was on vacation.
is anyone else a little peeved that we get almost no TV coverage of the KONI series this year?

i was able to set the DVR to record the laguna race, but for some reason, my cable guide is telling me that the laguna race is being aired again, instead of the Lime Rock race tomorrow. Anyone else having that problem?
I just want to watch some good racing, Grand Am is the best, most competitive road racing out there IMO. F1 is boring in comparison.
Lime Rock is a cool track, the back section where they get a little air coming over the rise is awesome.

yes I agree, have you notice that the times are getting closer and closer, if you check the races at the beggining of the season the qualyfing diference was about 2 seconds for 1st to 10th now is .5
I have noticed that, but the other way to look at it, how many cars are on the lead lap, sometimes half the field is on the lead lap, that is good racing. that means that anyone on the lead lap, can move up a lot of spots, especially if the leaders decide to mix it up a little.
yesterday's F1 race by comparison, 3 of the 18 cars that finished were on the lead lap, and Massa was almost next to be lapped. while I like watching F!, it is just not very exciting anymore. Grand AM is, so I try to watch as much as I can.

I still have it set to record, just in case it is a typo.
