After reviewing all 8 practices @ daytona, I noticed that the #69 got signficantly faster every practice. The #70 and #69 car is about even in lap times. Also the Spencer car got faster as well. And while i hate to do this, we can leave the goldin bro car out.. it is very slow. but lets hope they finish the race (if they're in a low power setting for reliability reasons). So watch out for the 2 Speedsource cars and a very flashy orange spencer car.

Does anyone know the driver lineup? I dont think randy pobst will drive in the same #70 car as mr.tremblay and mr.haskell

The golding bros need some help, but I think they should aim on finishing the race, I think there are going to be a lot of DNF this year so if they can finish they may be in the top 15

I think speedsource is sand bagging

I heard they are suppose to be running 4.5L V8's...

This is gonna be cool!! Can't wait! It's cool to have 4 8s this year (3 last year). We'll have to see how many of the starters are able to finish. (none finished last year).

2-14 Mazda RX8 (Prep 2)
2-14.1 20B Cosmo three rotor (Mazda Spec parts). 2.0 liter, 9.7 compression ratio,
3-52mm throttle bodies, maximum of 6 injectors, maximum fuel pressure 4.2 bar,
intake manifold is free. Call Grand American for parts list 386 947 6681
2-14.2 Minimum weight 2200 lbs
2-14.3 Six-speed transmission.
2-14.4 Maximum body width is 73.5 inches.
2-14.5 Front tire 280 /640/18
2-14.6 Engine set-back 5.125 inches from spindle centerline to 1st spark plug.
2-14.7 Complete rear wing height w/ end plates cannot exceed roof height.
2-14.8 Fuel capacity 24 gallons May use oil in fuel
2-14.9 Allowed larger/higher exhaust position .
2-14.10 Tire sizes are 280/640R18 front and 295/660R18 rear

The RX-8 has a huge advantage on weight, even compared to other tube framed cars. Maybe for the lack of torque. Main competitors are stock LS2 @ 2500-2600 pounds. Anyone know how much hp the LS2 makes in these GT cars?

This RX-8 should be VERy VERY competitive. It should really... REALLY be the fastest in the twisties.

Also half of the cars in Grand-Am GT are tube frames...

As I understand it the diference in weight is due to displacement of the engine

Hey guys, since Mazdaspeed sells these cars for 200k each, do you think they come with brand new 20B race engine shipped from Japan? Cause I think i saw in the LMP2 thread, that engines the ALMS team used were all rebuilt engines from parts that are very old.

I vote we meet by that kink along the back "straight" in the infield. I'll be the short guy. (seriously) Either that or over by the FanZone - that's a pretty easy place to spot as well.

are you talking about the hairpin? it is a good viewing area, and you can walk all the way down to where they enter the backstrech.

Here are the drivers lineup:

69 GT SpeedSource
Emil Assentato, Locust Valley, NY
Nick Longhi, Nyack, NY
Jeff Segal, Miami, FL
Joe Varde, Merrit Island, FL
Matt Plumb, Newport, RI
Mazda RX-8 FXDD

70 GT SpeedSource
David Haskell, Plantation, FL
Sylvain Tremblay, Coral Springs, FL
Nick Ham, Evergreen, CO
Randy Pobst, Gainesville, GA
Mazda RX-8 Mazda/ Mazdaspeed

I have a feeling the #70 car will be very quick around the track. I hope they can finish the race this time.

No, it's between the two hairpins - that little left-hand "kink" between them. It's one of the better/more popular viewing areas in the infield. But in order to be less confusing, we can just go to the Fanzone.

I also have a garage pass if that would be any easier.
