Isn't it finished? I was trying to listen to the stream radio (kept loading and stuttering). I think it's over because they said "we'll go down and talk to the winners after this" then pause...
0.2 sec........... phew.... i thought the pontiac would pass us!!!!!

Great race.. just wish they shown more Gt class coverage.
Oh and the announcers just said on Speed "..now all those drivers those high profile drivers that is that we've been covering all day long are going back to their respective fields, but for everyone else its on to looking ahead to the next race.."
like come on.. they pretty much just implied "Hey nothing else to see here unless your bored.." But then again hopefully the next race(s) they'll focus on the Gt class more.

guys, I just want to say that it was an awesome event. I want to thank Mazda and SpeedSource for hosting RN.COM for the 24. I hope you enjoyed a little insight from the pits. Look for a whole lot of pics and write-up at RN.COM.
Sylvain and Dave H. want to thank each and everyone of you RX-8/Rotary enthusiast who followed the race and supported them. Sylvain said we are a small community and we need stick together.
Check out the Grand-Am calendar and try to catch the SS team at a track near you... believe me, you'll never forget sound of that 20B!

Daytona 24. WOW!
Sorry I missed you Rhawb! We were on opposite sides of the track, and when we switched, I got too tired to make the trek back to meet up. We'll catch you at the next one
. Daytona is much bigger than I'd imagined.
For those of you who didn't make it... You missed something special!
The SOUND of the 3 rotor RX8s, especially compared to the V8s and Porsches, was like listening to an F1 car at a truck rallye. You could hear them coming around the track, their high-pitched wail making you remember that you were'nt at a NASCAR event.
I felt PROUD to be an RX owner, when I saw the 8's pulling away from the Porsches, and flying by the Corvettes (and the M3 and the G35 and the solitary 350Z). Hour after hour of shifts/popping sound/wail... Sweet, sweet music. Lets see, there were something like 30+ porsches, and 4 RXs. RXs took 2 of the top 10 spots.
I was pretty depressed at the cookie-cutter-clones of the Daytona prototypes. The looked the same, most sounded the same, and although they are fast, they have no heart. I was also saddened by the lack of variety in the GT class. The RXs added some spice, the Pontiac GXPs added some uniqueness (and they ran pretty good for an 'Murican car, not to mention taking 2nd in GT). I found myself chuckling in disbelief as the Porsche powered DP cars sound was indistinquishable from the 911GT3s they were passing.
I did find myself laughing out loud in glee at the sound and light show from the RXs. Flames from the tailpipes, backfires from the Goldin Racing machine, and amazing driving skills from all the drivers.
I don't know if they'll read this, but I have only two things to say:
1) Congratulations and hats off to all of you RX pilots. You did us proud, and we are in awe of your skills and endurance. Ditto to the Speed Source team. You guys ROCK!!!!!
2) When will Mazda do the right thing, and make us a three-rotor street machine. We NEED that speed, we NEED that sound, and we NEED to out-horsepower the 350Zs, Porsches, Vettes, and all.
(prayer follows)... Please Lord, let the folks in power at Mazda understand that the RX needs to be stronger, faster, and cooler. And also, Lord, please let ME be one of the first to have a OEM 3-rotor RX8.... Amen.

The event was amazing, simply amazing. Randy Pobst is a great guy and very hospitable. I had the chance to say good luck, chat, and shake his hand. The Goldin Bros were also great folks. They invited me to come back to their pits with them, but they wee busy with two transmission issues and a throttle linkage failure. Seeing that car go around was wonderful. Very loud and lots of fire.
Here's a short clip of the the Speedsource cars going by. I hope it works. it should bring up another window.

Here's another one. Several cars go by. The base sounds are the DP cars, then the RX-8 goes by. It's hard to describe some of the DP cars. My only thought is being in a huge cathedral with a HUGE pipe organ and hitting a big base note. Listen.
The 3rotor is much more disctinctinve. If this doesn't work, or I need to change anything, please let me know.
