Some of you guys already know my story but for those who don't, here it is:
A few months back I blew my motor due to cooling issues and purchased a reman from the dealership. The dealership gave me a motor with no compression on the rear rotor. Looking back at the damage, it looks like the motor ate a side seal.
Anyways the dealership would not take the motor back because I had it installed at another shop. (Ahem, thanks Gallo Mazda in Worcester MA). I filed a formal complaint to Mazda North American Operations and went ahead and purchased a used motor on my own and had it rebuilt by BDC Motorsports.
Mazda finally decided to send me a fresh reman after I already purchased my own and now I have an extra motor.
Thanks for looking guys.

My friends BDC built engine was DOA and another guy on the club got a rebuild from him recently and it was DOA as well. BDC actually came to my house to witness the tear down and frankly it was disturbing how much he didn't know (had no clue what a step wear gauge was, etc.) and how the engine was put together. Once it was pulled apart it was found that the side seals were not ground properly (or at all in one case), etc, etc, etc. But I guess every once in a while he builds one that runs.
I was just curious how why you chose him, he doesn't have a good rep as a capable builder.

I was mostly interested with the street porting results and read positive reviews from him on the forum. I was wary of the engine I bought from a member that was "rebuilt," (and for good reason) and decided to get a rebuild. I thought about taking it to Pettit, Mazmart, or even using the engine that I'm selling now but I was impressed with the results that I have seen from BDC's street porting and went that route. So far Brian and I have had pleasant interactions and spent an adequate time assessing my goals for the car before I even became a customer. During the rebuild he stayed in contact with me for the whole process and sent me pictures of the work he did. Granted I have never rebuilt a motor but I was satisfied with the customer service.
The car runs great now and I want to post my experiences but I know everyone will ask for numbers, so I'm waiting until everything checks out or doesn't, to provide an unbiased review for everyone.
