I absolutely love my car!!!
I was shopping around for a sports car and looked at pictures of the rx8 and thought it was 'just alright.' THEN I had a red one on the highway next to me driving back home from St. Louis and I was SOLD!!! I bought one 6 months later right after I graduated from college.
I take my car to a lot of car shows...I have the debadged mazdaspeed nose and I get a lot of people asking "what kind of car is that?"
People stare at my car as I drive by, it turns every single head of anyone walking around. Little kids point at me as I drive by.
It's almost a daily occurrence that someone compliments the car or stops to ask me about it. I just moved to Rhode Island from St. Louis and in both locations there are really only a handful of rx8 owners...so the car is still rare.
Most people compliment me on all the work I've done on the interior...."It's stock guys." I'll tell them and they don't want to believe me....so they move onto the paint...."you've done a great job on the paint, I love the metal flakes" again I tell them "yup, that's stock to."
My car has yet to be confused for a viper, Porsche, Ferrari or airplane like one of the guys on here. But most people don't know what the hell it is and ask me about the engine. Some guy at the gas station last week told me I should bore out the headers or some ****. When I told him that it has a rotary engine and you can't do the same "tune ups" that you can to other engines he just gave me the deer in headlights look. I didn't feel like educating him so I just let it go.
I love the attention my car gets. I know that I bought the right car and I'll never get rid of it. It's my most valued possession.

Just reminded me...I was in a parking lot and this guy with his son asks me if my boyfriend did up my car for me... I'm like no... I did!! I think he was shocked...He thought it was all custom...including the interior.

Well being a fan of the RX-8 I know you miss out on the whole "car experience" thing by wasting money and not purchasing a M/T.. My remark was that of sexism and a snide undertone of condescendence. Then releasing all accountability by saying someone hacked into my screen name and posted such a hateful comment.

i own a 1980 rx7 and a 05 rx8 .
after a few weeks of having my rx7. i was driving with my buddy by one of my old schools and saw a riced out honda and some fwd ss chevy. i pulled in and parked side ways infont of them. i work with a bunch of honda guys so i hear so much about them ect ect. i am just chilling in the car and the honda kid walks over i start asking what mods you have. hes like i got rims and a cat back and i think a header.
i looked at my buddy and hes like i think a header and chuckles. i then go on to ...
me: mt or at?
honda boy. at cause its faster.
me: what you got for a motor b16 b20 k20.or a d motor.
honda boy: idk.
me: any power adders?
honda boy: i got nos.
me: what size shot?
honda boy: the one you pour in your tank(octane booster lol)

my buddy: no its not and corrects him on how to say it right.
then he asked about the motor and i said 1.2 rotary. i pointed the the rotor decal i had and i sad it go spining triangles yo.
then i took off spining the tires and we here holy **** its rwd.
the best so far ive heard about my 8 is thats fwd right, that awd right? thats got a v10 right. nice kit car lol.

people call mine an rx7 all the time...it really annoys me for some reason. not that the rx7 is a peice of crap or that the rx8 is better or wores...just they are different and it bugs me when people confuse them. the rx cars are so unique....it shouldnt be so hard to sort them out. and yeah, mines been called a viper before like many others im sure. i cant see why. very different looking cars. both are sporty i supose...thats about the only similarity. vipers are low as hell and have very low body lines. rx8s arent so and have very high lines. I had someone ask me if it was fast, to which i replied, "does a bear **** in the woods?" I just didnt want to tell him it wasnt as fast as it looks. lol.

Just got my 8 and I love it, the way it turns heads, all the stupid questions ya get.. One of the best questions I've been asked is when its parked at work.
I do audio installs for a living, and its always parked in the back of the store, I go out and just chill in my car sometimes and turn up the music, well when people hear it they come ask me: "What did you install into that car! It sounds amazing" and its really funny because its all stock!
It sounds really good for stock paper ****!
Also is it just me or when you pull up to a red-light, 70%-80% of the time does the person next to you rev there engine regardless of what they're in! Always get a kick out of that!

lol. i like that. dont know how well that would go over.
I hate explaining the engine to people now. at first i liked it...but now its really annoying.
now i just say, its completely different than a normal engine, but for comparison sake, its got 4 cylinder torque, V6 horsepower, and v8 fuel efficiency.
