Is there anyway to cover the vents when is raining or does the water gets re-routed so the water doesn't affect the engine. Also, did you intall it yourself or someone helped you out with it? The reason I asked these questions is because I'm considering ordering the Seibon Carbon Fiber Hood (Series - TSII) for my RX-8. Thanks.

It's probably too late, but you should have done something like a red candy coat. You'd still be able to see the pattern of the carbon, but it'd be red. Oh well. I'm sure it still looks cool.

I still like the CF look better. Looks like the paint has a little orange peel to it, but that could be just the pic. I do like the mesh painted black better.

It would actually be cheaper cause there is no need for a base coat.

if you want my .02 i like the painted better. i have never been a big fan on CF hoods, it makes it look like the car needs to be painted. like your getting close to have a complete car.
anyways, you asked for input, there is my input.
P.S. it looks great! thats the hood i wantt o get (and paint it yellow)

Nice to see the finished product. I, too, agree with many who feel the black paint on the mesh made a tremendous improvement. I like the painted version best, but I guess it's disapointing that the gaps between the hood and bumper are easier to see when painted than when in carbon fiber. This is the only bad thing I've noticed about all brands making carbon fiber hoods for our car, they cant seem to get the gap right.....
Good choice on hood though Mike...you would have ended up with the same gap with all the other hoods out there.
