Painted roof plastic pieces

I had the local Mazda dealer paint the plastic pieces on the roof to match the accent color on the Mazda speed body kit. I think it's a good contrast.

Looks nice, by chance what is the color code ? I've been trying to find out for the longest time. Lol looking to get a replica since the authentic versions are too expensive and rare let alone being lightening yellow.

The dealership didn't have the color code, they matched it up as close as they could. They mentioned it was the 2 tone metallic Grey color that mazdas uses on their tribute suv.

Sorry, but for me color match looks better. Companies usually leave those strips unpainted with cheaper paint jobs, and that is what I see.

I guess I'm not understanding your comment? They leave them unpainted? Or have cheap paint jobs?

Mine looked like crap, apparently they don't clear coat those strips from the factory. So this time I had them painted and clear coated.

But to each their own. Some people will like it or hate it, I appreciate your opinion.

He was saying that companies that do painting such as maybe macco "cheaper companies" do not paint those strips for whatever reason. And since you changed them from body color it reminds him of a cheap paint job.

I think it looks okay, I think id rather just have color match to the body though.

I meant OEM paint. Not so much these days, but in earlier years manufactures would cut costs by not painting the roof gussets (rain strips), door handles, bumpers, etc. Thus being a dark/light grey or black. In fact, many people ask if I painted mine OEM color. I love that Mazda spent the extra to paint match. One of those smaller high quality details.

You are correct though, it would have been nice to have a clearcoat. I keep my car highly detailed, so the wax does a great job of protection.

Just not my thing is all.

mine are wrapped in matte black vinyl. I had the similar issue where the paint was ruined on the weather strips.
