Not the best picture, but you can see the "2 pieces":

Your pics were okay, but I used some other Pics of GTFs as examples. The GTFs are 3 piece welded, meaning you cannot take apart the 3 piece unless you machine cut them apart.

Rays sells them as a 2 piece, because I guess they are considered two piece because they cant be really taken apart by hand to be re sealed with silicone like other 3 pieces wheels are, but in reality they are 3 piece. I learned this when I had some SSR SP1s rebuilt. Just thought I'd share what I learned.

Im guessing Rays and Other Companies who sell Racing Wheels prefers welding them together over just a silicone seal to eliminate any possible air leak during racing.

Below is examples of a 3 piece wheel that comes from the factory with the silicone seal, and then a SSR SP1 & VOLK GTF that are 3 piece welded. The last picture you can see where the SSR SP1 has already been machine cut and repaired and has been resealed with a silicone seal. Same process would have been done with the GTF's. (I dont know why one of the pics is being posted upside down)

2. You don't need a tux, or a nice suit, true... but you don't need to wash & wax a car either... yet you do anyways.

I do really like the design of them. I had been looking at time attack CE28N's but no one had them in stock. I'm kind of glad they weren't in stock because I definitely do like the more unique colors.

Every color I've seen on the GTF looks great in my opinion. The basic silver and the MDC/gunmetal options look pretty good, but I've seen black, red, gold and blue and they've all looked pretty nice. I'm sure they could pull off some other colors rather nicely.

Yeah I have seen them in mag blue and it looks great. IMO it woudl really pop on a VR 8, especially if sized right. I always wished you had gone with the rear spec 18 x 9+27's all the way around. But a 18 x 9.5 +27 all around would be perfect.

Wouldn't a 9.5 in wide front tire put a LOT of weight on steering effort?

However, the "deep dish" looks great.

How much additional "drag" can we put in the electronic assist in the rack& pinion steering before it fails?

Back on topic... anyone know what color the OP decided to go with?

Nah, I am running 9.5" all the way around and there is no difference. I have been driving Hoss-05's acr and his are 18 x 10" +42 and it handles great and steering is crisp.

When I first stepped up from stock 225/45-18 tires to 245/40-18 tires I did notice a difference in steering but it wasn't worse, just more grip and it takes some getting used too.

1. Just pointing it out

2. I was more trying make the point that a tux is overdressed for most restaurants, even among the nicest restaurants. I would actually feel more out of place for wearing a tux to a restaurant than getting out of that Ferrari.

3. I wouldn't quite say I proved your point. I don't think the Ferrari was in bad taste and I'd say there's no reason to not drive it around. Within reason, I'm not going to choose my car or modifications based on what people will think when I'm driving up to somewhat specific locations, such as 5 star restaurants. It's not that I'm so self absorbed that I don't care about what others think, but when it comes to something that is my choice and is far from offensive, I'm going to choose what I like. That Ferrari is a nice car that had quality work done and appears to be well kept. I would have no qualms with driving a car like that to any event, with the exception of needing the ability to seat more people.

If you have a Ferrari you have something bigger and/or no friends.

+1! On Izzys Ride, after rebuilding the SSRs to x10 with 245/35 KDWs, it was like OMG. The car goes in a straight line. On the Freeway you dont even need to hold the steering wheel because the wider wheels keep it going straight. I honestly baby sat the steering wheel for like 1/2 a mile with no hands. More Grip for sure, but it wasnt the Grip that we had to get used to, for us it was the GRIP that has been Missing. We took a turn that is posted 40 @ 70 and NO TIRE chirp at all! PURE GRIP. Its amazing really.

Yeah.. now imagine doing that with a proper tyre wall and width to wheel width proportion!
Lol
