I try to go once a year... I was just there the 22nd through the 30th and heard of the yellow FD. I also got to drive Round Top (unfortunately in a Ford POS rental). The stretch between HB and Sandy though is absolutely beautiful (both road and scenery).
Round Top is where all the drifter wannabee kids try out their mountain drifitng skills and that stretch by Sandy beach is a quarter mile, so you know what happens there.:D

Pic 5 was taken at Sandy beach, here's another at Sandy.

Hachi:

Coolest thing about your color choice is how nice it looks against the red Hawaiian soil. I can think of a couple spots on Kauai that would make great photo locations - red soil, green jungle, ocean just off in the distance.

Come to think of it, you kama'aina may be the best-positioned guys in the whole country for the most dramatic pics of the 8.

No I'm not even close to being first in Hawaii, I waited almost a year to get mine. In fact, RX-8s arrived here in Hawaii before many other states on the mainland US. Hawaii is the closest state to Japan after all. I believe RX-Nut (another local Hawaii guy) was the second US rx8club member to get his RX-8 way back on July 11th, 2003. He gets the title of 1st RX-8 in Hawaii and 2nd in the US (out of our board members).

I live in Honolulu and still don't see that many on the road, there will be even less on Maui. BTW, the Kea Lani Suites is an absolutely beautiful resort, stayed there myself on one of my wedding anniversaries.

Post your questions in the Lounge and I'll try to answer.

Totally agree! Back when the FD RX-7 was new, I wanted to get one in competition yellow mica, but the wife twisted my arm towards red. This time she actually liked lightning yellow better than velocity red, I guess she's getting younger with age
