First AutoX in my new 8. 3 videos 56k..no way!

So I had an 02 civic which I autocrossed regularly and did quite well with. Now that I have an 8 I have to learn the car's limits. What better way than autoX?

Here are a few videos.. If you see areas where I can improve let me know. I wasn't looking to totally thrash my tires, so there are 2 hairpins that could have used a bit more gas to kill the understeer, and I also could have braked a little harder. Overall though, I did well for the first time out.

That looks like a nice big course. You're in the right to take it a bit easy until you get the hang of it, and you're moving pretty good by the second video.

I tend to be overly aggressive first and then tame down and smooth out throughout the day.

Looks like fun, course looks like it could get confusing though, did you have any trouble?

No trouble.. a lot of people did when I was working though. There was a new gti that DNFed 4 of 5 runs, and continually went to the right of the cones at 00:46 - 00:49 of the second video....which pointed him right at the work crew...which was the corner I was working. There was also a turbo eg civic on stock suspension that was spinning out right after the first box of cones. quite funny. They were probably the slowest 180s i've seen not on ice.

Man AutoX always looked confusing to me. I havent done it yet so maybe thats just something you get used to over time. I'm sure with experience you have an easier time visualizing the lines.

Looks like you had a good time. Someone needs to mow the grass though.

We have our next session this Sunday. They're putting it on the Bondurant Driving course. Skid pad FTW!

Nice indeed. Wish we had local events like that around here. Zoom Zoom Live tour was fun though.

nice runs...

My first autocross with my 8 is coming up later this month, hope I do as well as it appears you did.

I have 5 years experience at autocross and will do my first event in the 8 on Hoosiers. With that in mind and the new car I know I will have to take it a bit easy but damn I don't wanna...

SUCH FUN

Well that GT3 infront of me got a 54 or something and I think my best was a 59. He was also on slicks. So was the other Bstock car that was there, 350z. so he was only doing like 3 seconds better than me on slicks...not to bad. I'm on Cooper 2xs tires, which are a 180 treadwear. I've still got a few seconds of improvement i think though. Thanks for all the positive comments guys!
