im thinking about getting rota boost 2's in 18x10+25 and get them powder coated in white.

at the end of the day i think i can find a used set for ~800-1000 with tires. Then another 300 to powdercoat.

The problem is that... well thats $1300 and i can buy half decent wheels used for that price. Nothing crazy, and no tires included... but still.

If you were to sell your Anniversary wheels, you could easily offset most of the cost of new wheels.

08's are considerably more expensive than all of the 04's, thus why they spend the money upgrading and we spent it on the car.

Im getting there. slowly...thinking about wheels.. or the feed replica front from shine. no one else has pulled the trigger on anything drastic though.

im thinking about 18x10 boost's. or get the boost 2. Ive always had an obsession with white wheels and i think it would look great on our color. Unfortunately the boost only comes in white for 17inch. Id have to get the boost or boost2 powder coated in white.

Mmm...I would have to see that first.

Personally, I wouldn't go with white wheels on my car. I would go with something like what Pico has, or anything dark like the color of the R3 wheels or something like that.

I think white wheels go well with standard colors like blue, red, maybe black.

Get what ever you like.
Don't go skinny tires.
10" is too wide.

Stick with 9 or 9 1/2 if you must.

well, the plan is to eventually put them on the FD, and 9 is too skinny for the FD. Id rather have proper fitment on the fd than the rx8. eventually ill just put the stock ones back on because the 8 is my daily.

since eventually ill be getting either 265s or 275s for the fd, id rather not spend money on tires for the 8 because they have 80% life left. If all goes to plan i should have the FD this summer or next.

id just be re using the 225's on the 18x10 and have uber stretch for a little bit, or find a used set that is selling with tires pref 245's.

as you can see, its alot more complicated than "just buying wheels". I like both styles, and all of the colors. Just looking to see what the community likes, maybe it might sway my decision.

Still thinking about getting an FD? With the recent series of events you had lately installing springs...something tells me you wouldn't be able to afford keeping up with an FD.

The gold wheels look good.

Agreed.

The white ones, however, look really cheap. (And by "cheap", I also mean hideous.)

buying wheels for a car you dont have and putting them the car you do have is like getting a "cobra" vanity plate and putting it on your cavalier cause you plan on buying a cobra in the future.

you can put a 265 tire on a 9" wide wheel, and if you buy the right offset an 18x9.5 with a 275 will fit on all 4 corners of the 8 and the fd, and you'll be able to rotate the tires. (the fd may need spacers in the rear to get a better look, but it wouldnt look bad without them)

i also agree with pistonhater about the FD...

Thanks man! Theres a great DIY thread on how to clean the exhaust. if you do it once every 2 months ish, it's really easy. I waited allll winter to clean mine and did that in March and it took a solid hour, maybe a little less but yesterday it only took about 10 min to do both of them.....I use Never dull, Chrome Polish, Carwash Solution, 0000 Steel Wool, and a microfiber towel. Makes them look brand new!

Thats what makes it more fun, besides all i did was put the rear on the front. Its not like something major happened. Live and learn.

I guess, but its more along the lines of when not if. mrl84, i plan on breathing 30 seconds from now. I plan on buying a FD, i dont see much of a difference. I think ive said it around here a few times but i am definitely moving this summer or next. I have a 5k slush fund for my 8 and around another 7-8k in savings, these will be applied along with a few thousand from the sale of the house to buy the FD. I already have someone who is willing to sell a 94 with brand new single, new engine at 15k miles old, and all supporting mods for around 15k. This is pretty good considering how many beat to **** stock fd's with shitty compression and a questionable history laying around for 10-12k. I know the guy selling it, i know the history and hes local incase i need to "rent out his services". The only bad is the color

If you cant tell, im very excited. What is weird is that its not 100% excitement in ownership but more excitement that ill be able to work on a car for the first time. I cant wait to join the community of fd owners, i cant wait to learn. Just like the 8, i dont ever see myself selling it

I could, but my main goal when i first started looking for wheels is the priority on the FD. If i could find wheels that would be the optimal size for the FD and still fit on the 8 in the mean time then that would be ideal. If i cant do it, then ill wait till i get the fd.

also, im hesitant on running spacers at the track. The ideal size in the front for a stock bodied FD is around 9inches and a 9.5-10 requires the feed over fenders(yes please!) And the rear ideal size is around 10 to sit flush with the correct offset of course.

just so you know im not trying to tear you down or anything like that, i just dont want your current cars apperance to suffer because you may (i plan on breathing in the next 30sec too but **** happens...)have a different car in the future, its not like the FD is sitting in your garage.

i know people that own all 3 gens of 7's and from my exp with them the FD's take the most time, money, and patience. especially if your going to track it.

now back to the issue at hand... wheels. like i said before if you want to rotate your tires i would go with 18x9.5+45 with a 265/35 tire. this will fit the 8 and the 7 its about as big as you can go on the 8 with out having to do anything to the fenders, and its a conservative/mildly agressive set on the fd.

and if you plan on tracking you want the lightest wheels you can afford, i dont know how much the boost wheels weigh but its also something to consider.

ill just leave this here for referance, ive used it before
http://www.rx7club.com/showthread.ph...01#post9872200

again im just trying to help not trying to be an *** or anything.

I'll be an ***. Don't do it. 2 cars with temperamental engines is not the way to live. Money spent on toy cars is lost.

i say if anyone wants to own 2 cars and already has an rx 8, which is in no way a slouch, buy a miata. Especially because you want to work on a car for the first time. Miata's are great track cars, straight forward and if you get the right year i think you can make one look pretty cool. Not to mention, parts are considerably cheaper than anything on a rotary and the expertise is easier to find for a miata than a rotary. just my 2 cents....also i can tell you that having more than one project at one time is never a good idea. I know plenty of people who get project after project and now they have 3 or 4 crappy cars laying around doing nothing.
