I make sure I'm at 4,000 before I floor it for nitrous to spray. I usually arm my switch when I know I'm about to spray.

Apparently your mainfold almost blew up the entire RX8club world!
Holy ****.....went to work one day, come home to see what's going on in the manifold thread, expect to see 1 or 2 posts.........and YIKES!

Okay, so glad we are back on track!

Not being a user, sure seems like "controller ideas" would be the way to go. Something that would not allow it under say.....4k or so?

I am far from experienced or knowledgeable about the rotory, or the effect nitrous has, but what about this...

An on/off window switch appears to be a basic solution, but given that Easy apparently likes popping the boost in risky low situations, I think this would probably be detrimental to his enjoyment of the spray.

A 2-stage switch would be more complex, but would help satisfy his craving and protect his UIM. But if you end up going with a 2-stage system, might you take it another step further? Most gauges (i don't know if ours do) run off of some sort of analog signal measuring electrical current flow. What if you piggy-backed the RPM signal (or used your own, to allow a progressive 0 to 100% spray based on say 2,000 to 4,000 rpm, using that analog signal as the 'governor'.

Getting the % limit right would require some tuning, but would probably fit the needs of the driver through the whole range while protecting the engine/manifold from excess.

Just an idea, I honestly don't know enough about nitrous systems to know if this is possible.

It was in only three pieces. But. The air filter on the end of the AEM has a hole burned through it.

I have to start making movies of this stuff.

That's the thing. It is load sensitive. As in manifold vacuum. I have done dead stop starts with the car and no issues. The tires light up like a Christmas tree and your off on your merry way. Then the tires grab and this is where it seems to have the issue.
Under low load and rising rpm's the car is just fine. But their is a certain point when the load seems to become greater and the rpms are not high enough to maintain the torque needed to keep the car accelerating.
Suddenly the rpm's start to drop due to a (I'm going to hate myself for this one) Lack of torque and the manifold vacuum drops too.
What ya got left is puddling of fuel. I shouldn't say puddling. I think it's more like pouring fuel down the UIM and LIM.
No sucky no worky,, BOOM!

+1 on happy BHR customer, good communication, no bs business practices, and I believe their prices are more than reasonable as well. Theyr'e still here answering questions, developing relevant products, and helping existing customers get the most out of their cars, where mazsport/scot/whatever are long gone, not helping anyone, and are basically a fading memory. There's a reason why one company (a much smaller one too) is still here and one is not, so to all the "haters" out there give that a thought before you open your mouth or go all e-thug on us.

Fascinating thread man, that noise must be terrifiying when it goes, good thing leather doesn't stain easily, unless you have the cloth seats then.......

Thanks canaryrx8. We at BHR appreciate that.
I'm getting a little teary eyed.

About the noise. It has been described by people as a "bomb" going off. The concussion is fair. Shook Ray's house they said.

I am not sure I agree with this assessment yet.

I liked Jeff's recollection of my reaction as I watched out the window, compared to he and Todd's reactions as they heard the explosion.
What was it, again, Jeff?

Easy E1 commemorative ashtrays made from parts of blown manifolds. I know I'd buy one.

We were watching the new episode of the office when we heard the "boomBOOM" and the walls shook.
I thought someone had crashed into the house.
Both Flashwing and I stood bolt-upright immediately like "WTF was THAT?!?".

Charles just looked lazily out the window while he was doing the dishes or something in the kitchen and just said: "That was Easy. He's not going anywhere." and went back to what he was doing like this happens everyday.

Me too.

Only gasoline in its vapor form will blow like that.

With Easy we are headed that way, aren't we?
It was funny watching his taillights move slower and slower down the street until his car game to a gradual stop.

LMAO!

Now that's what I'm talking about! We've been saying all along that both screens are pointless... I'm guessing you're going to want to get #1 reattached in some manner.

Whaddaya talkin' 'bout? We were cracking up at both!
One of the best episodes to date... unfortunately because of the superbowl my DVR cutoff with Pam saying (in response to "Did I cause your parents to break up?") "He said you love me..."

My wife and I are still completely f'n clueless as to what happened afterwards and we're waiting for rerun land (or torrent) for an explanation.

yes i know, thats why in the beginning all i asked for was a simple dyno slip so i can see how the power band has changed.
