Single best quote in this thread! You guys are insane... Unfortunately, it's threads like this that have convinced me that my nitrous project will have to wait until AFTER my 8 is paid off.... looks like that'll give BHR plenty of time to perfect and implement the blow off valve lol.

It's less that there's a real danger and more that Easy, despite me yelling at him, likes to live dangerously.

The problem with the combination of an automatic and nitrous is the auto is always going to try and engage at a lower RPM than you would get with a manual. The result is less vaccum in the intake and the risk of fuel puddling.

I'd say nitrous is going to be the most safe above 4,000 RPMS. The best method for launching seems to be flooring the throttle and then hitting the arming switch.

Then again, Easy's best quality is testing the limits of the car!

These manifold explosions occurred during low rpm, high engine load. If you don't due what I do then there should not be any isues.. I'm pushing the system to find it's faults.
So far I have confirmed the low rpm/high load theory.
But hey that's what I'm here for. Testing one, two, three.

WOW Dom, what a weak move on your part. You run to a local mazda thread and run your mouth abouot MY CAR and don't even have the fortitude to bring it straight to me?
I dare you to run your car with 2 coils and make almost 200hp (197.71 to be exact)

Have you taken a look in the mirror lately buddy? you don't know SQUAT about yoru car (hence ALL the lame threads you've started lately) and yet suddenly you're "expert" enough to say that the Mazsport Ignition system are "the ****". HAHA, go to a real RX-8 shop and see what they think of them.
I'll give you the number to NeptuneSpeed where the owner was born and raised in Japan, working on rotaries since he was a KID and when he last installed the mazsport coils in a car (imrtommy) he had to send back the ignitor box TWO times because they wouldn't work. you should have seen THAT car on the dyno...MISFIRE, MISFIRE, MISFIRE.

Dom got all defensive on me on this thread which I am still confused about: https://www.rx8club.com/rx-8-discussion-3/sound-high-rmp-after-installing-k-n-short-ram-165764/

edit: dammit, a mod must've edited it. but you can clearly see there is no reason for him to be upset over what I posted.

really? Were you there?

Just went back and looked at the dyno chart, I overestimated my horsepower. It's actually 197.61.
Ask anyone else who was there, I'm sure they can attest to the figures since they saw them with their VERY OWN eyes. Unlike you who were a couple hundred miles away and obviously know not what you speak of.

Any other intelligent, well thought out comments to share with us on this topic?

I didn't unplug anything. If you'd do more reading and less typing, you'd see that I adressed this already in the dyno thread.

I'll go nice and slow so you can understand...

Car was put on dyno
Car was not responding well. We heard a strange noise that sounded like detonation
We took a timing light to the wires and saw that the trailing plugs were not firing.
They were still plugged in when that dyno happened but were not firing.

you've got Mazsport coils, right? Why don't you try that out Sport and let us know how that works out for you.

The question really remains: What exactly is your point here? What are you trying to 'prove'. So far all you've proven is that you can't read and think that unplugging coils is a good thing.
