BC Sound at high rmp after installing K&N short Ram

Hello,
I installed K&N short Ram intake on my car and after there is sound coming out somewhere in the hood when my rmp goes up when I drive.
The sound is really bothering me.
Please help me fix it.
I tried everything and tried to find where the sound is coming out from, however I failed.
Does anybody had a same problem??
The sound sounds like some metal is hitting on something.
clicking sound? hard to explain kk

Not sure amigo. Have you tried re-installing the stock intake to see if the sound is still there? Is there anyway you can get a sound clip?

Check your connections just to be safe, but could it be the "marbles in a blender" sound? If so, it's normal.

Normal. I installed mine a few weeks ago. You just hear more of the engine intake sounds and such.

that is the sound the K&N intake makes at high rpms....some like it, some don't. I hated it and sold it within a month. it sounded to me like a coffee can full of bumble bees.

The clicking sound you hear is not from your intake. Its detonation. Get some idemitsu premix asap!

wat.

I don't think it is detonation personally....I think what he is describing is the normal retarded sound that intake makes. How can swapping out an intake suddenly cause detonation?

i know exactly what your talking about, the sounds starts at like 7-10 rpm like your engine is going to burst, that the sound that the typhoon makes, ive had it and sometimes i think my engine is coming out the hood it rattles the car at high rpms, if that what your trying to describe is just the k&n sucking in air at a much greater volume, id say dont worry about it, after it adjust you wont notice it as much.

it's for added lubrication for your seals in your engine....has nothing to do with detonation.............

Generally the intake is supposed to get louder as the RPMS climb and the can of bees sound is normal when your pushing 8-10K RPMs. Need a sound clip or something man.

Sorry...

felk420 you will hear detonation at high rpms. I have heard this in two of my friends RX-8's. One on the freeway from 60mph to 80mph let off the gas then hit it and we could hear it. Its low and deeper than a clunking sound its more of a knock.
The second time I heard it was in my friends 8 in first gear after taking a turn into a straight away got up to 7k rpms but did not redline due to the sound.
At this time they where not premixing (no big deal). However the clicking sound you hear maynot be detonation but just the high rpm exhaust ports opening up around 6,250 rpms (according to zoom44). Did you hear this sound in the high rpms range?

no, i hear it when i give it WOT from the range 6-9rpms is like really high reving sound but is not knocking, im changing plugs and wires this week if i can figure out how to, for what i hear it sounds like misfiring, hopefully the plugs and wires will help. any advice on how to change them?how hard are they to change?o yeah and anyone looking to change plugs and wires i got both of them for less than $85 shipped on ebay,2 ngk leading and 2 trailing, + oem wires, they also have coils but i dont believe i need them yet, not sureof the price but i can check. pretty good deal.

Yes, it is the reverbaration. The sound waves are making the car rattle.

This is normal. Do not add pre-mix. This will not stop the loud obnoxiuos sound.

Don't tell him to premix or not. Let him make up his own mind about it. I premix I think it's a good thing, PLENTY of people do not and have NO problems. It's really a personal thing whether or not you think you need the added protection to your seals. Has NOTHING to do with detonation at all though so it won't fix this sound, that's just how the K&N intake sounds, either sell it and get a new intake or deal.

For more info and to make a better decision about it look here:

Your avatar is seriously gonna get me in trouble at work one of these days lol... Nice though. Anyways, I agree with this post. My friend had the same intake before and it is a totally different sound when you get on it. I just got a Mishimoto intake and installed it in my car. Every time the throttle opens up my dash rattles lol... Car sounds exactly the same if I'm easy on the pedal even at high RPMs... With whatever you decide to do, good luck!
