whatever happened to good customer service? (it all went to India or China) Now Mazda just wants to ignore genuine concerns from RX-8 owners? what a load of horse crap. I hope Mazda gets a new *** hole ripped into them for this. It sounds like they are cheating at their numbers game so that they can look better and possibly bring more business, all at the customers' expense. It is nice to know that our opinions are nothing more than "mulligans" to them.

I can't help but remember one of my favorite Bad Religion Songs. The lyrics go " I want to conquer the world....expose the corporates and feed em to the children" MNAO headquarters can burn to the ground for all i care. I will just refer to it as a "Mulligan"

1) If they are going to just ignore our insight, do you honestly think the 'good' dealers that take care of stuff are going to slack off of the RX-8?
2) They are releasing a new model, are they not? Do they think theyre going to sell with this going around?
3) If the RX-8 doesn't matter anymore, then why are they still making it? I love the car and I want it to keep being in production and meet mazdaspeed.

I'm pretty angry with this decision, I think taking it to the media is a great idea. My car is an 05 and I haven't even had it for a year yet and I still have a long warranty ahead of me. If this is going to start getting me awful service, I definately don't think I'll be able to even put up with it. I think I'm going to ask my dealer when I go to them next time.

Watched it. This is capitalism, if your product is hot, it's what you focus on, if not, ignore it. What's so unusual about that? Try being in business for yourself...see what you pay attention to - the answer - where the $$ is.

Sad, maybe, unfortunate yes, but it's reality.

I don't think that was an oversight, want to take bets if there ever will be a 2008 model?? How many more CX-7's and 3's could they make on the line the RX-8 uses??

CX-7, and now even bigger, porkier CX-9 (I guess that's the new product they'll unveil at the next trade show?????)
I think Mazda might be abandoning the ZOOM ZOOM mentality and selling out to the "Luxury/ Upscale" market. Maybe even the 8 will go the way of the dinosaur again (wild speculation on my part, but with their attitude towards us at this time...)

this is an internal vid, I'm sure owners of these dealership have seen this. The message that Mazda is telling these dealers, is that the Rx8 doesn't matter...how many you sell doesn't matter and how well you fix them or don't fix them at all doesn't matter...we just took a back seat to every other mazda made, including the truck.

How do you think that will affect resale value of this car? How's that feel for buying Mazda's most expensive car...

Does anyone doubt this car will stop production soon...

Who said it was unusual? Who said it wasn't sad or not reality? What people are saying is that Mazda (or some faction of Mazda) are being asshats. People aren't going to want to buy RX-8's if they feel their dealer (or Mazda in general) won't support them. And they might not want to buy from a company that would forsake existing customers for the sake of some scoresheets.

People have power in capitalism. At the very least they have the power to choose. Some companies realize this and will garner sales at least in part because of this. Mazda seems to have sacrificed this to some extent which has a very direct impact on the people involved in this discussion.

I honestly have no idea how your point is relevant whatsoever. Even if what they did was accepted happily by 99.99999999% of the country doesn't mean people don't have the right to evaluate the decisions impact on themselves and decide to be upset and act accordingly. Are you just proposing everyone just accept it and say "oh, well, that's life"?

i agree that Mr. OSullivan could have said something. Even just a " the rx-8 for 2007 just started production" or "will be arriving in october" . but as pointed out he was basically trying to pump up dealer personnel about new product ( the 2007 8 has nothing new) and was updating about things said at the previous dealer meeting in san diego. if there was nothing new to say i can see why he said nothing. but to leave it out completly IS weird. but the "care score" video came out second im told so he may not have wanted to say anything knowing they would be discussed later

Sounds like the word "RX-8" is just as taboo to them as "Crossfire" is to us.

This video is pretty shocking,

i think part of mazda's problem is that most rx8 owners are enthusiasts.
instead of being uninformed soccer moms, or people who don't care about weird noises,
or what the dealer does to our car
we stick together as a group in enthusiasts forums.

together, we know the problems we have with our cars,
and we know when the dealers are cheating us, and when something SHOULD be fixed.

now, instead of solving the problem by providing better service,
they choose to just ignore all of our surveys.

they are choosing to lie about their service instead.
by doing this they can continue to boast in magazines,
"best rated" in sales, services, etc,
have the most satisfied customers, etc etc.....

i am definitely unsatisfied with what mazda is doing,
and much like owners on this forum,
i don't believe that there will be the possibility of me purchasing another mazda because of this.

i have always been an rx7 enthusiast, and now rx8,
but mazda's decision is just ridiculous.

I think you think you hit the nail straight on the head...

But it is self inflicted wounds by Mazda, because they design and market vehicles FOR ENTHUSIASTS!!!!!!
So then to not be willing to deal with enthusiasts that actually know and care about their cars is just plain bad buisness.

It would be like building a nursing home, and then deciding you don't want to deal with Alzheimer's, Medicare, arthritis and assisted living.

You build an enthusiast car, with a one of a kind engine. You have to know the people who buy it are going to be very mindfull of their cars, and very knowledgeable on it too. They are going to expect that the manufacturer (or their representative aka the dealer) be at least as knowledgeable if not more than the customer itself

This certainly helped me make my decision to avoid an 8. I won't buy a car if i don't have full confidence that the company i'm buying it from will stand behind it. I was already having doubts after the poor experiences many have posted here, and from visiting multiple dealers myself looking at the car. I did not have a good experience. This just tells me the bad feeling i got extends much further up the chain and through MNAO. They really need to be proactive to improve customer service, not sweep it under the carpet.

Sorry Mazda, your poor policy and lack of focus on the customer has lost a sale, and caused me to go elsewhere.

(but i will still stick around this forum, everyone here is great!)

if you're going to be the only major car company that will support, produce, and maintain a rotary engine then you must be aware that it will completely be your responsibility when customer satifaction is low. yes we all understand that all vehicles have their problems and concerns, but to be the only producer of this engine and not claiming vault for problems is poor judgement, especially when trying to hold us as customers.

I think they may be thinking of putting the rotary up for adoption.....

From now on, anything bad that happens to Mazda, it shall go on the records as a "mulligan"

Ditto ^^^

I still love my rx8....just because MNAO are a bunch of ashatts doesnt mean im gonna get rid of my car.....I bought the 8 for many different reasons none of which was confidence in MNAO.....like it was said earlier, most 8 owners are enthusiasts and have special bonds with their cars.....I didnt research MNAO regarding their business practices or their financial solvency..... it never entered my mind...

I LOVE MY RX8

Just watched the video...
I am shocked. Did I miss something today, forget to eat my Wheaties or something? When did my beautiful sports car get ejected from the mother ship? How two faced! This is serious. Major suck issues here! I'm over 52K in my '04 so I'm already out of warranty. Guess I'm really out on my own now. MNAO needs a major kick in the **** over this.

You might as well jump ship now -- the ship has literally fallen over.

I may love my 8, but the way this corporation (MNAO) deals with issues is not a corporation I would support with future purchases. I love my 8 enough to put up with the little nuisances. I won't stand for being lumped as a nuisance to MNAO.

And for those of you who think corporations *should* act like this just because they are corporations, you sadly overlook those business owners who care a whole heck of a lot about what our customers think. There are still some of us who listen to our customers ... without your investment in our "products" we would not be in business.
