The Mazda dealers consider the RX8 a lemon and they don't want the owners of all these perceived lemons pulling down their satisfaction scores.
It's up to Mazda to correct this perception rather than sweep it under the carpet.
As for me I'm having abandonment issues

Zoom44, I was just about to start a thread about this when I saw yours. As some of you know, I am a service manager at a Mazda dealer is Central California. My first reaction to the RX8 survey issue was "what if we get a good survey from an owner?" Those surveys dont count either. The "mulligan" thing is based on how many surveys a dealer gets per quarter. We would get two a year or so. I can tell you this, obviously our treatment of RX8 owners wont change, we treat everyone well. Mazda didnt think this through judging from all of your reactions. They also probably didnt expect this to end up on this forum either.

I will e-mail Mazda though my dealer website to let them know of your reactions. Maybe it will get through.

Haha.. zoom agree's with me.. see reading his shyt paid off.. ok now seriously...

As others have stated we should try to spread the word on this "abandoment" by Mazda.. more its starting to sink it the more I'm feeling like I own their "red headed step child", instead of their supposed flagship sports car. Gonna goto Speed Channel's site and link them to this thread and see if they find it news worthy to post on their site and maybe have a small segment on their Speed News. If all else maybe it will fall into one of their other auto-shows. Pretty much attempt to make some waves yanno. I have this car for another 6 years or untill I pay it off and my warrenty last for another 17k miles and I dont want those last 17k miles to be horrible because a dealership now thinks they can treat me like crap because it wont effect them in the long run.

Hell come out with a Rx-8 Service Iniative after stating your taking our entire car out from your survey. Since aparently our "service" is so bad it greatly impacts these surveys so negitively one would think something is so wrong that it needs to be fixed...

Grr starting to rant here bah.. I just work in Retail and my strongest asset is customer service, and I hate it when company policy tells me to either annoy my customer with annoying upsells or to no longer offer a service I've always offered. And hearing this well gets under my skin

The major issue here to me is that when something does go wrong with my car, Mazda is not going to force my dealership to do anything about it since I have no actual say in the bad service that I could potentially receive. That's absolutely rediculous. Now, instead, I have to rely that the guys that work on my car down at the dealership honestly care about what they do and are going to make me happy just because it is the right thing to do.

What happened to just doing the right thing when no one was watching or just purely because it is the right thing to do?

what a thing to have linked, thank you for sharing it. I really don't care about the "new" model they're going to release at the LA show now if this is a sign of whats to come.

have contacted 3 news stations in the local DC area regarding this information to see if they can investigate further and perhaps bring more public light to this suppose "improvement". Urge anyone else to do the same in there area.

Anyone contacted Dave Despain at "Wind Tunnel" on the Speed Channel?
I'd bet he would be interested...
Personally I'm appaled at what I've heard, I am at a loss for words...

It would be like Honda (Acura) starting to blow off the concerns of their NSX/S2000 customers
Or Nissan With the Z

My Dealership offered me a $50 credit on their parts/service department if I took the survey to them marked as "very satisfied" when I recieved it.
I got it last week and am now wondering if they'll honor it...
I did have some issues I would like them to address, but nothing major, so Should i try to help them improve, or just try to get those $50 and run...?????????

Since apparently the survey doesn't matter anyway, I'd take the 50 bucks.
However, if they know about these news, maybe they'll reconsider their offer

Erm.. Leno is a certified Car Nut.. as he put it "I'm the president of more money than brains club". If I had a way to email him personaly I would. This guy has or must have alot of contacts in the auto industry.

I sent a email to the Boston Herald asking if their Auto section would be interested in this as a story. I also posted a thread on SpeedTv forum didnt think of finding Dave's email bah!.

Hmmmm funny that this should come out the same time I'm having more and more difficulties with my service department and their ability to fix my 8 correctly.

I have had to bring the car back in for repeated servicing of the same problems more times then I would like to count.

This news really disappoints me.
