Mention in Wall Street Journal 4/6/05
In the "Me & My Car" column in yesterday's Wall Street Journal, the following was the columnist's response to a letter asking for a comparison of the RX-8 to the Acura RSX:
"Both cars you mention are small, powerful and relatively light, making them agile and fun to drive.
The Acura has front-wheel drive, so the way it accelerates, turns and stops feels different from the Mazda, which has rear-wheel drive. Traditional sports-car fans tend to prefer rear-wheel-drive cars because they feel more balanced.
The Mazda also has a rotary engine that makes the Acura's in-line four-cylinder motor look pretty conventional. The rotary sounds great and in this case delivers more power -- 238 horsepower for the Mazda vs. 210 in the Acura. The Mazda engine delivers its power more smoothly, but its fuel economy is poor compared with the Acura engine."
