Mazda halts rotary engine development (?)

Anyway...I heard about this "official" announcement, BUT, I have not
OFFICIALLY read anything from Mazda Japan that the RX-8 has stopped production..
Are they talking only for North America??..
I was of the view that MMC will keep making the RX-8 like they did with the FD RX-7 JDM, right up till the RX-8 release.
So until I read it from Mazda Japans media site, I won't believe that production has stopped..

regarding skyactive, my buddy owns a mazda dealership in Ottawa Ontario, he was recently at a mazda event where they showed them the production Mazda 3 with the skyactive. As well as the new upcoming cx5 which he said was due out this November. It is slightly different then the pictures we seen of the cx5. the front and rear bumpers are slightly bigger. probably due to our crash test standards. He said its bigger then the mitsubishi rvr and about the same size as the nissan rogue.

Rx-8 has not stopped being made..
OK, Just thought I would let you guys know I received an email reply from the Big Boss at Mazda Australia. I asked him to clarify this issue about RX-8 Production.
J Barnes (MNAO) was either wrong or misquoted, production for the North American market may have stopped, but as I thought not for "other" markets..

Apologies for not responding earlier but I have been overseas and have just returned. I am not sure of the background to the rumours but RX-8 has not ceased production and will continue to be available domestically and for export markets including Australia.

not a clue on price man, Im hoping hes a reliable source, back in 09 when the mazda 6 was coming out he was invited for a pre viewing and said when we would get it and we did. So hopefully hes good.. I can't wait till the cx5 comes I want it
